Sara Ahhh. I did wonder why Fate's heart would end up in Zachary. I saw it coming - I understood the steps along the way - but didn't know if that meant that Zachary was now Fate and what that meant for Mirabel's role as Fate. But your explanation makes sense. She's got her own heart, in an immortal vessel, and didn't really need it anymore. The mouse's sneakiness and the sculptor-who-created-the-puzzle-to-hide-the-heart weren't necessarily needed then. Except it did ensure that whoever delivered the "key" to end the story could come back to life. Why did it have to be a dead person to deliver the key to end the story? Dunno. I suppose we can give that plot twist to the author.

But I'm not sure the Keating Foundation precipitated Mirabel's birth. If that were the case, why wouldn't Jocelyn Simone Keating just enter the timeless room herself and get pregnant? Simon entered the timeless room and accidentally got Eleanor pregnant, but he just wandered in without much guidance from the foundation and one of them could easily have had some condoms in their pocket to foil the pregnancy.

Samyukta B So are you saying that the Owl King & the owls wanted to kill Mirabel to end the story? But the story ended when Zachery was killed right?
