I actually got over this (superfluous apostrophe trope) - and loved the book (and the series).. The same can't be said for her latest "The Raven Tower" constant narrative in the 2nd person? Clever perhaps, but too clever by half... As for Russian writers - it can be perplexing when each character can have up to 4-5 names, their diminutive, their full title, their patronymic and their matronymic...
