Jon Weman To take one problem with Song of Kali, Simmons presents her as a godess of evil. The mythological Kali was, among other things, a fierce warrior who DEFENDED the world against demons. Now Simmons can create his own version of course, but Song of Kali gives the impression that she is ACTUALLY PERCEIVED like that even in India. That Kali worship (with human sacrifice) is like a dark secret in society that people have come to accept but prefer not to talk about. Thats not how it is in reality, but many people will think this is accurate research or based on accurate research with just a little exageration.

Harry Hole I think this characters in the Terror and Song of Kali were intentionally written to be the person in conflict with the other. In Song of Kali he has dinner with an Indian man who describes some terrible atrocities before pointing out they happened in his part of the world. I think his characters tend to be written like people from those periods of time may have viewed "the other ".
