Yes! That's exactly the thing that pulled me up (and out of the story). The reference to a computer didn't even need to be in there.
I agree the computer made me adjust my time frame for it as well.
Or as one reviewer remarked 'the novel is permanently set in 2007'
This one line really jarred for me. It completely upset the timeframe that I thought things were fitting into.
