There's a popular misconception that everyone who hates it is simply doing so because they wanted a happily ever after type of ending. While that's definitely true of some people, there is an even larger faction (!) of people who disliked because it was horribly unnecessary to the story and very poorly executed.
Unfortunately Matthew is correct. The book was very poorly done. Multiple - and I do mean multiple - times as I was reading I was like, "What is this mess?" It really didn't even feel like the same author wrote it. I thought I was reading fan fiction. The characters did not sound/act the same way they did before, with no justification; most of the storylines made no sense and felt like someone making stuff up on the spot; the big subplot at the end was so utterly ridiculous, so nonsensical, and completely inadequate given what it was for, that it was an insult to the reader's intelligence. The whole time they were planning this, uh, "thing," I was like, "What ... the FUCK ... are you DOING?" It made no sense. It was completely ridiculous and unnecessary. I could not believe this book was written by someone over the age of 12.
No, it wasn't just not "as" well written; it was just bad. Really, really, really bad. So bad that I can't believe the editor actually allowed it to be published.
Rumor has it, actually, that the editor left HarperCollins before the book was done. That would explain a lot, if true. No one picked up the slack and let the manuscript go to print before it had been revised and corrected.

Yeah, that does make sense and Yeah again, this last book had a totally different feel to the others. And to be honest, I didn't like it as much, it went quite downhill in comparison to the excellent first two.
When I first read the book (only a few pages in kindle edition) I knew it was going to be a good book, but just in case you think I've read the whole book I didn't, only a few pages in kindle edition okay, don't get upset I did not read the whole book so I don't really know the whole story
