Idgie, because I wish/hope that I am fearless as she is. Evelyn, because I am now older than she is in the book and I have always done battle with my weight and self-esteem as she has. She is a woman of the 70's, too, with the sexual revolution and all that entailed. I laughed heartily at the self-help classes, remembering that those were offered in the 70's. I took "Auto Maintenance for Women" instead!
I like Evelyn, because she gains confidences and becomes stronger.
