I would have to agree with that statement. I am always down to drink some ale with Merry!
But I do have to say that Pippin's immaturity and ignorance or innocence if you would prefer, is really quite admirable. He manages to have fun in nearly every situation and makes it his job to make everyone smile when they are feeling the lowest of low.
