Sir Ranald Macdonald Steuart-Seton
Sir Ranald Macdonald Steuart-Seton (1777 - 1838) was the 2nd Baronet of Staffa. He trained at the bar and was a friend of Walter Scott, who visited him on Ulva in 1810. In 1812 the rental of his estate from kelp and other sources amounted to £3,600.
In 1820, as Sheriff of Stirling, Macdonald supervised the state executions of the radical weavers John Baird and Andrew Hardie.
In 1825, he accompanied the French Marshal Jacques MacDonald on his tour of the Hebrides.
