Full disclosure: I am a huge fan of Joy's expertly-taught writing classes. Published almost 25 years ago, and therefore not necessarily representative of her current point of view, I found this book full of creative connections between the art of writing and one's spiritual source, whatever that may be. I do not adhere to a conventional religious belief system, and skipped over some biblical references, but was thrilled with Sawyer's enthusiastic and encouraging approach to fulfilling one's creative destiny with the written word.
