Wings of Morning
SHE WOULD WED HIM, SHE WOULD BEAR HIM A SON. BUT NOTHING COULD FORCE HER TO LOVE THE INFIDEL.
The Moorish warriors had shown no mercy. Raping her city. Destroying her family. Yet one, the godlike, stone-faced Tariq, had swept the raven-haired, ivory-skinned Spanish beauty up on his charger and spirited her away to his kingdom of Granada. He had saved Livia Larreta's life.
For what? To be a prisoner in a jeweled cage? A plaything for a prince? Soon Livia was to know the truth. She would become Tariq's unwilling bride.
Amid the filigreed splendor of the Moorish castle and the vicious court intrigues, the bloody Spanish Holy War wheeled ever closer to her door. If only her beloved Castilian officer Aguilar could rescue her before it was too late--before she must submit to the strange, unwelcome passion she had begun to feel for her bold and barbarous husband.

DNF
The hero attacks the heroine’s city and kidnaps her, believing she will make a suitable gift for his prince. However, by the time they reach the prince’s kingdom, the prince is already married—so the hero ends up marrying her himself.
Unfortunately, there was absolutely no chemistry between them. The hero felt completely cardboard and emotionally flat. While the heroine at least showed feelings and inner conflict, the hero mostly just appeared now and then, only to disappear again for long stretches of the story.
The heroine spends most of her time alone in a palace filled with harems and countless other people, which made it difficult to connect with her situation. I couldn’t relate to the setting, the relationship, or the hero at all.
Overall, this was a miss for me.

Reading this felt like watching speed chess being played out. Very fast paced, the adult moments seemed almost mechanical in nature. This is definitely not a slow burn. I found several grammatical-type mistakes. I found the heroine to be a wishy-washy brat with a thick head. I thought the hero was a complete blockhead who could not see beyond the end of his nose. I found parts very anticlimactic. I did like the ending for her part because she finally learned but did not care for it for the overall conclusion of the story.

I don’t want to sound too harsh, but this book was really bad. The plot, if there is any is driven forward by random events that no one could see coming. The characters a very shallow and show almost no growth at all. There was no real romance to this “romance” story, only driven by blind lust and forced sex scenes. I would not recommend this.
