Azerbaijan, one of those obscure countries with a communist past, is a mystery to most of the world. Not many could name the President of the country, and indeed, not even confirm if there is even a president there. There is very little of Azerbaijan politics and culture that comes out in world news. Despite such immense obscurity, Azerbaijan is turning out to be a hotspot for tourists.

Very approachable.

This was the perfect accompaniment to other travel guides, such as The Lonely Planet. It does not purport to tell you where to go and what to visit, rather, it paves the way to understanding the people and customs of the country. It covers everything from values and attitudes to business meetings; family living to getting around in Baku, and many many more points in-between.

Pretty solid/basic background info on a typical Turco-Persian ethnic people and their customs and culture. Reminded me of the other parts of the Turco-Persian world that I have lived/worked in over the years.
