This was fine, I read it all the way through and there were several exercises I plan to try eventually. But it's not a right fit for me.

I liked this novel. It's as much about life as it is about writing and creativity. It's a bit dated, over a decade later, but that doesn't really matter for the message you get out of it. It's a bit hard sometimes, but it is also powerful.
