First of all, I'd like to say that the only reason this book gets 2 stars is because I liked the rest of the series.

Going into the book, I had no idea what to expect. The first novel, Private, was great and so were the other 7 books, but after that everything went downhill. Still, I decided to give the final book a chance. I was expecting a huge twist, and that's what I got. The thing is, it wasn't a good twist.

Some of the grammar and punctuation in the book was incorrect. On top of that, the pl

At the end of it all, I feel that the Private series deserves some credit. For the past year or so, they've provided me with my guilty pleasure YA soap-opera mash trashy chic lit fix. I need those. They've consistantly given me decent storylines, semi-likable characters and enough slightly cliche plot twists to keep me guessing and putting the next book on hold at the library. No, they've never been 'good', and I have overdosed at times and gotten altogether sick of them (and the insepid Reed), ...more

*This review does not spoil this book*

Alright, so I have given all of the books in the Private series five stars apart from the previous book (Ominous). I hated the sudden witchcraft element and felt like Kate Brian had lost the plot with her usually so intelligent explanations for all of the crazy things that happens in the life of the Billings girls. Luckily for me (and other readers who felt the same way) it abandons the 'wow, we're witches?' element and I was so happy that it got back on tra

SPOILERS IF YOU HAVENT READ CRUEL LOVE. So i've been looking forward to this book since I finished the last one, but not anymore. I feel like I know how Reeds story ends already. She graduates and goes to george town because thats where Arianna tracks her down to... I feel like the only thing this book is going to tell me is if they get Billings rebuilt or not.

I must agree with the general consensus on this one: Vengeance is an underwhelming, surprisingly inconclusive conclusion to the lengthy Private series. As Reed plans to rebuild Billings, she is once again stalked and yet another character returns from the dead. I happen to love characters who come back from the dead; that's not the problem here, and neither is the identity of said non-corpse (but why couldn't it be Thomas?). It's that the motives of Reed's antagonists are both mea

I didn't know a thing about this series going into it. My boyfriend (now husband) would always go to the library to pick up books for me and he stumbled across this series and brought me the first book, thinking I would enjoy it. /// Well he was right lol. /// I was instantly hooked and reserving the next book within 24 hours. /// This series is definitely not realistic and is pretty dramatic lol , but it's lots of fun and it was the first time I'd e

I don't care anymore. I really don't.

*takes a deep breath*
This book was surprisingly good, after the fiasco previous 4 books had been, this one turned out be a surprise. I am so relieved that Kate Brian managed to return to her usual form and deliver a good end to this series. There were many, MANY holes in the story but the suspense and drama made me nearly forget all of that.

First thing, the story of witchcraft and wizardry saw no closure. None at all. Ominous was all about Billings being a coven, those 11 girl

When I first started reading this series in early April, I never expected it to end like this.

At first I thought it was just about a bunch of rich snobs who love to party. All they cared about was shoes and boyfriends, just like any other chick-lit YA novel.

Nooooo, I was so wrong. This was about everything from taking Vaca's in New York to murder. By the first word of Private, I was hooked. That's my story about the Private series and it pains me to see it go.

I finished Vengeance the day it came out. Over all, I was very shocked. It was nothing like I expected. I was REALLY hoping for an epilogue, but Kate Didn't give us that. I don't see why though. Maybe she plans on doing a spinoff with Noelle of Josh? Hope so. I was hoping for more, but I liked it. Private will always be my favorite series. :)

I did think it was weird to have the witchcraft thrown in in previous books and then have it disappear. Not sure if this was really all that exciting of a conclusion to the series, but I enjoyed the series as a whole so I gave thus 4 stars anyway.

Next up: reading the privilege series.

Reed Brennan is such hot shit, people come from the dead to kill her. And voodoo, seriously?

Because it's the last book and because I didn't want to be uber-mean, I decided to give a two. The book was hard to get through, probably because I've gotten bored of the characters and because Ariana hadn't made an appearance. It's good Brian reminds me about the supporting characters, because I couldn't keep them straight. Probably, because there are so many and they don't have other distinct qualities.

*Spoilers ahead if you aren’t up to date on the PRIVATE and PRIVILEGE series

After Billings was knocked down, Reed felt like she lost a part of herself. After all, Billings was the place she met Noelle and her other friends, and finally felt like she fit in. Reed sets out to re-build Billings. Newly rich after learning she and Noelle are sisters (and after the murder of Noelle and her father) Reed puts all her energy into re-building the dorm. With the big groundbreaking weekend ahead and hundred

As a very loyal fan and long-time admirer of this series, all I can say is... "Well, that's disappointing."

It's the final novel, it's supposed to be explosive, and I get that the twist was supposed to make our jaw drop or something, but it all just felt very contrived to me. Like a plot that wasn't meant to happen that way from the start and was just changed later, so the added details and explanations were scrambled at the last minute. It was unimpressive, disconnected, and repetitive. I'm not

Private goes out with a bang!

Reed is back at Easton for her junior year with just one goal - to rebuild billings under HER rules. Mr langes' death, and reeds' subsequent trust fund, will be more then enough to fund the project - it should be easy, right?

But nothing ever comes easy for reed brennen. When construction is suddenly halted days before the billings dorm is due to reopen, reeds paranoia hits an all time high. She knows someone is out to mess with her,

Well, one of my guilty pleasures is now over. And, I'm not sure how I'm going to fill this void now that Private is no longer.
I was putting off this book because I didn't want it to end. I've devoured each installment of this series and eagerly waited for the next one to come out each time. Oh, Ms. Brian, please write more so I can have something fantastical to read about.
This series was all about fantasy to me - beyond rich kids at a private school in New England - doing whatever they want - in

When starting reading I felt alright, I mean I didn't felt it like a true end since people weren't traumatized for the whole witchy stuff neither the wicked planing grandma or the dead biological father, so I was wondering wtf happened to their emotions besides Noelle. Then all those accidents started to happen and the texts came, I got excited not too much but enough I guess. I wasn't fully buying this thing off until Reed was almost kidnapped at that prom ball they had, the the

OMG....wait. does this mean private's over??? No f'in way! This series has literally ruled my holidays... They were amazing, and they were the whole reason [or atleast most] that i finished 15 books in 4 days... have to say, that's a personal achievement....

1. I'm sorry, but Reed's choice in men was... terrible

Vengeance by Kate Brian

The last book in the Private series, ended as much of the readers would've expected. Once again Reed Brennan found herself at the center of deceit and death. It seems as though someone doesn't want her to rebuild the Billings house and the plot to stop her will only cause more pain for the young student.

Kate Brian does an effective job at setting the book up for a climatic ending! When a past Billings girl comes back... "If I wasn't so completely thrown by the presence of

My review contains some spoilers from previous Private books, but NOT from Vengeance, assuming you have read every other book before it.

The end is not near, it's here! After 14 installments and 2 prequels, the Private series has come to an end.

Going into Vengeance I thought that initially at least, there would be more talk about Mr. Lange's death and you know, more grief, and that it would take more time for the girls to go back to thinking about boyfriends and frenemies. Unfortunately, t

Finally got around to this one! I actually pre-ordered it, and then it took me a year to actually read it. I'm not sure why, exactly. I think I had been reading this series for SO LONG that I kind of wanted to wait and hold out for a while, so I could keep thinking about it and theorizing how it would end. Now with a new Kate Brian book coming out soonish I figured I should give this one a go.

In a way I feel like this series could have ended sooner. How many people want to kill Reed, honestly?!

I'm so sad that I finished the series. I wish there was another book! Kate Brian can totally
write about Reed's senior year. The end of Vengeance was so suprising!!! I dropped the book and my mouth was hanging open! It was such a big twist! Overall I loved every single book in the private series.
Kate Brian never let me down. From Reed, to noelle the charecters she created made me smile laugh and cry. I really really liked Josh and Sawyer. Kiran and Taylor were great. And all the other Billing G

FIVE YEARS I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. I AM DONE THE SERIES!!!!!! IT'S OVER!!!!!!!!!! I AM REJOICING AS I WRITE THIS!!!!!!! Okay so...I started out by LOVING this series, I loved Reed, and Thomas, and even Noelle and Arianna. By the...eighth book I think...I started to actually HATE most of them...not Thomas, he was dead but EVERY OTHER CHARACTER in this series. Reed was SO whiny and just could not help herself. The other big problem I started was that the plot was PAPER THIN, there was ALWAYS ...more
