This book was too much for me. The parties were too grand. I was hoping it would be a book about creating dinner parties at home. The photos are, as always beautiful.

Gorgeous photos, ridiculous party ideas, fun to flip through - until you see the "Oriental" party ideas. These included hats with queues attached. And this was published in 2006!

Also, far too many stripes. I do really enjoy looking through outdated and outrageous etiquette party books though.

I think this would only be useful if I had an estate with gardens, mountain retreat, penthouse in NYC, farm with stables and a lake home. Lovely but unreachable. I was able to salvage a couple of recipes from the back of the book.

Very pretty pictures and a few great tips. I believe she was married to a billionaire when this was written and so most of the parties probably cost in the tens of thousands, so not achievable for the average person. But, nice to daydream about and lose yourself in for a little while.
