An introduction for medical students, and graduate and undergraduate students in genetics. Explains basic molecular genetics, and covers chromosomal and single gene disorders, immunogenetics, cancer genetics, multifactorial disorders, and fetal therapy. Emphasizes the value of medical genetics as preventive medicine, and contains clinical commentaries on specific genetic diseases. Illustrated with b&w photos and two-color diagrams. An appendix includes bar codes to be scanned to access more illustrations from a laser disk, but the disk was not attached to this review copy.
Muy desorganizado a mi gusto, es complicado seguir el hilo de lo que se plantea. La verdad que no lo recomiendo para aquellos que se inician en la materia, o quizá es necesaria una guía docente para poder seguirlo de manera adecuada.
In my opinion it's very desorganized, es hard to follow the ideas. I don't recommend it for begginers, but maybe with some guidance from a teacher, it can get better.
This book has helped answer many questions. For example, if you've ever wondered if you are just overweight or if you have full blown gynecomastia, this book will put your fears to rest. (That is of course unless you do have full blown gynecomastia.)
Fantastic textbook on the concepts of genetics, inheritance, genetic diseases, and genomics set in a clinical context. The illustrations are very effective and the case studies present tangible examples of how to apply the knowledge.
