Sweet Poison: How the World's Most Popular Artificial Sweetener Is Killing Us My Story

Rate this book
When certified nutritionist Janet Hull became gravely ill, she discovered aspartame poisioning was to blame for her life threatening sickness. Her investigation revealed disturbing facts about aspartame hidden from the public since the 1970's — including documents contradicting product safety and the fact that aspartame was originally approved as a drug — not a food additive. She tells her story and the experiences of others and unveils startling evidence of a cover-up.

This is a fascinating book about the dangers of artificial sweetener. I was already trying to give up Diet Soda and this just helped me get over the hump. What was an accidental discovery (as a drug for ulcers) is now in over 5,000 food products and a billion dollar industry. Consume aspartame with caution!

The book is poorly written, edited badly, titled misleadingly, yet I was facinated by the story and its possible implications.
The short of it all is this: be aware of what you are eating and drinking. Know what it is and what it can do to you.

A very good book with lots of facts, research, and her personal story as well as many personal stories. I do wish she had covered more details of the recovery process but this is definitely worth reading!

didn't really read the book, but got to confirm my own suspicions about aspartame. Now that it is out of my diet I no long have migraines.

Poorly written, but had some very interesting facts about Nurtrasweet that I hadn't heard before. I will probably stop chewing Nutrasweet-sweetened gum after having read this book.

I wish more people would read this in a day where everyone seems to be drinking the diet sodas without knowing the ugliness that is aspartame. It can be downright dangerous to your health.

Good information, but a poorly written book with stories being told and re-told.
