By far the most authoritative and complete book on IEEE 1003.1 POSIX threads, with some coverage of DECThreads, Solaris threads and GNUThreads thrown in for taste. The only good coverage I know of advanced issues like cancellation (both deferred and asynchronous), stack attributes, signal interaction and _atfork() handling, superior coverage of everything else -- don't bother with books like O'Reilly's Pthreads Programming or the even worse bookmill productions out there; Addison-Wesley's done ...more
