A fantastic book by Sheriden Cain. The Teeny Weeny Tadpole is the story of a tadpole who wants to jump like his mummy the frog! The tatpole watches his mummy jump high into the air with a flippity-flop onto a lily pad, but poor young tadpole can only manages a splich and a slash. He asks her why he can't do it and she says," you will one day". The tadpole then decides to go for a swim downstream and his mummy tells him to watch out for the big bad fish.

On his way he comes across a wooly lamb and asks the lamb if the lamb can jump. The lamb says, "you bet, watch this" and jumps with a boing. Poor tadpole wishes he could jump and the tadpole says, "you will soon." This is then repeated with a rabbit and then a grasshopper. The next time the tadpole goes swimming he drifts a little too far.... a huge fish with big rubbery lips says, "i eat tadpoles". He chases him up and down and in and out of the weeds getting very close until the teeny weeny tadpole jumps higher then the lamb, higher than the rabbit, higher than the grasshopper and straight out the water and all the way home!

This story is a lovely depiction of a growing tadpole and how he changes into a frog. Throughout the book there are great illustrations showing how the tadpole grows slowly into a froglet growing legs.

This is a fantastic book for the topic of growth within the EYFS. We had tadpoles in our classroom so the children were able to see the life cycle of a frog which we got from the school pond. A good book for cross curriculum ideas.

The teeny weeny tadpole wants to be able to jump like his momma frog and sheep and rabbit. They all tell him soon he will, and eventually he does. Good thing too, because the big mean fish would have eaten him otherwise.

Comically illustrated, and with repeating text easy for kids to catch on to, this is a good pick for kids with a lesson about being patient about growing up.

This book is about the transformation of a tadpole to a frog. Who wishes he could jump high like his mommy. The mommy tadpole stays supportive the whole time and says to the tadpole he will be able to one day.

This book does a great job at showing how to be supportive and it takes practice and growth to get better at something.

This book would be best in a kindergarten-2nd grade classroom. When teaching cause and effect or learning about the growth cycle of a frog.

I came across this book while looking for a supplemental read aloud to teach Frog Life Cycles yo my 1st graders. I LOVED it! It’s a cute story and plot. The other characters are encouraging and I like how in the midst of all of that there are visuals of the life cycle and a surprise that entails it in the plot. GREAT book!

A nice story about a tadpole wishing he could jump like his mummy. This is a good story for discussing the topic of growth in the Early Years. There are good illustrations of the tadpole changing into a frog in the book. The repetition also helps the children to engage with the story.

The Teeny Weeny Tadpole by Sheridan Cain and illustrated by Jack Tickle is a book that follows the journey of the protagonist, the teeny weeny tadpole. I chose this book for my read aloud because I thought that it was a great story that explains the life cycle of a frog well, while also including many detailed and colorful illustrations throughout. In this story, teeny weeny tadpole wishes that he could jump high like his Mother Frog, but she tells him that he will be able to jump as high as her one day. The story introduces multiple other characters that love to jump, including lamb, rabbit, and grasshopper. Towards the end of his journey, the teeny weeny tadpole comes across the story antagonist the Big Bad Fish, who eats tadpoles! I think that this book would be great to be used for a interactive read aloud activity for a first grade science lesson about the lifecycle stages during the transition between a tadpole and a frog.
