Here is the uplifting love story of one of America's best-loved novelists, told with grace and humor by his wife, Barbara Peretti. The warm, personal vignettes include early journal entries from both Barbara and Frank, revealing God's faithfulness through the seasons of their life together. Peppered with Scripture that has encouraged and challenged the Perettis throughout their 25-year marriage, this delightful book is illustrated by the watercolors of talented artist Carrie Parks.
SEASONS OF MY HEART by Barbara Peretti and some snippets of Frank Peretti. Barbara and Frank are Christians and Barbara speaks profoundly on her faith of trusting in the promises of Jesus Christ. It takes you a little over 12 years of their life and struggles as Frank becomes a renowned author and speaker. It begins with reminiscing through 25 years of marriage and the seasons that God brought them through. Mrs. Peretti is very fond of Charles Dpurgeon and uses many quotes in her book of his. One of the Scriptures used to sum up the book or experiences is from Isiah 58:11 “The Lord will guid you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”
I cannot say, with truth, that I really enjoyed this book as it seemed long and drawn out. I kept wondering why they didn’t do more to change their circumstances and they may be my fault as trusting in promises is difficult for me if I do not try and change to meet those circumstances. I guess the adage of “God helps those who help themselves,” first then rely on God as well has been a thorn for me. However, that does not make their method of trust without merit. I’d like to have that much faith and trust, blind unwavering trust, that they showed in this book and as I bend my will to Jesus Christ and what He’d want for me as I make those changes in my life perhaps that trust will be mine as it was for them.
