This is short easy to read book. It goes fast and simply sets out to inform. Mr. Winders seeks here to "quickly" separate out the facts of David "Davy" Crockett's life as opposed to the folklore that has grown up around him.

I'm from East Tennessee and for a while lived within a couple of miles of the Crockett Tavern (which was still there the last time I was in Morristown TN). Being a child of the '50s I was also part of the Davy Crockett craze in the middle of that decade. I've read that there
