Great stories on Newfoundlands. Even for the non-Newfie person, the stories are great to read on how these dogs save peoples lives because it is just what they do.

I picked this one up hoping it would help me decide if a Newfoundland (very large dog) would be right for us in the future. I guess I was looking for more of a pre-owners guide...how much do the dogs eat? Grooming costs? Lifespan?, etc.

What I got with this book was a history of the breed dating back to Native American times and a guide to breeding and showing the dogs. It had some interesting information about the breed, but not what I was originally looking for.

Margaret Booth Chern was obviously very dedicated to Newfoundland dogs. This would be a good book for people who already own a Newfoundland and have an interest in dog shows.
