I thought this was a great book. It is very straight-foward and helpful for the shorthand beginner. The only issue I have with it is the reading practice answers end once you get a little further into the book. (If you closely read the chapters, you should have no problem).
As far as learning shorthand in 2015 goes, I feel it still serves many purposes from everyday note taking, drafting papers before typing them, or even (if you drag another person with you as you learn shorthand) writing secret ...more

I started studying Gregg Shorthand in the summer of 2010 but lost interest in it before I finished reading the manual. Now that I've finished that, I can practice my writing skills by copying the lessons (which is what I should have done in the first place.)
