B.J. Daniels started her life in Houston, Texas, before her family moved to Montana at age five. She grew up in a cabin in the Gallatin Canyon near Big Sky and later on Hebgen Lake near West Yellowstone. Because of her love for Montana, most of her books are set there. Born into a storytelling family, all she'd ever wanted to do was write stories. After a career as an award-winning newspaper journalist, she wrote and sold 37 short stories before she finally wrote her first book, ODD MAN OUT. Since then she has won numerous awards including a career achievement award for romantic suspense. She lives in Montana with her husband, Parker, two Springer Spaniels. When she isn't writing, she quilts, boats and. makes rope/fabric baskets. She always reads, loving to lose herself in a good book.
Although it started good and kept pacing quite excited, ending could be better. I think, somethings were wrapped up quickly. Nevertheless, it was good enough to pass the time.
Federal agent T.D. Waters receives a mysterious phone call asking for $50,000 for the truth about his history. They claim his parents, who were murdered when he was 8, were actually his adoptive parents. So this sends T.D. to the Winchester ranch to get some answers. His boss, Roger Collins, sends agent Lizzy Calder after him, claiming he is a threat to national security. At the ranch, several secrets and mysteries from the past must be solved. Not only T.D.'s true parentage and the reason his parents were murdered, but also which Winchester child was possibly involved in the murder of the youngest sibling 27 years ago.
This is probably the best Intrigue book I've ever read! It's the final installment in a mini-series, but if you pay attention, you can read it as a standalone. The plot is in constant motion, with lots and twists and turns. I truly didn't know where it was headed! It's all a bit far-fetched at the end of the day, but that doesn't take away from its entertainment value! Plenty of suspense and excitement are to be found within these pages! The romance tends to take a big backseat to all the plot stuff going on, so those who prefer the romance over thrills might not find as much to like. As for me, I certainly don't mind a subdued romance if the plot is this interesting and exciting! It all builds to an action-packed, suspenseful climax. This is one of those rare books that could actually have benefited from being longer, to develop the characters even further, and put some extra oomph into the romance. If you like the Intrigue line, this is a must-read!
Amid growing suspicions and a botched assignment, government agent TD Waters gets a call from someone who knows more of his secrets than even he knows. Shedding his boss, the protector he’s had since childhood, TD leaves the government issued toys behind and heads for Whitehorse, where the answers he needs really may be.
Lizzy Calder is sure this assignment was tailor made for her. All Lizzy has to do is go to her childhood home with the McCormick ranch Whitehorse, locate and observe a fellow agent and report back to their mutual boss. Lizzy’s friends, Anne and Janie still live there a mile or so from Winchester Ranch, where TD’s mysterious call came from.
But their boss has his own secrets and when he doesn’t get the answers he’s expecting, he starts to realize his two sharpest agents are in a remote area together. He can only hope
For my taste this series started very, very good and maintained throughout six books (you go, Ms. Daniels) and I was sorry to get to this final entry that isn’t without extremes. For instance, the ending was a bit convenient but overall the series is a complete intriguing, suspenseful (at times) action mystery that doesn’t have to be read in order. Rating: 4.5stars
Life is never dull at the Winchester ranch... Just when you think you have it figured out the author adds another twist. I really wished some scenes could have played out a little more, it felt a bit rushed at times. But all in all,..a good read for sure! I recommend!
This book is part of a series and the series would be best read in order. The series centers around two families and an ongoing mystery. Each book peels back a layer and each succeeding book reveals a new layer. This book is the conclusion. It was a well-written book with many hidden secrets. One still remains unresolved. Will it be another book?
This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the 6st book in the Whitehorse, MT: Winchester Ranch series. I have read most of the other books in this series before picking up this book. This book is a great ending to a great series. I really enjoyed reading this book.
Story line was too simplistic and proverbial especially the characters. Lots of potential ,not as good as previous efforts. Skipped portions of description entirely as repeatative
TD is searching for the truth about who he is. Lizzy thinks she is after a rogue agent. Together they join forces for the truth that will shock not just them but the community. Great love story and ending.
Wonderful characters, great story. It had enough twists and turns to keep me guessing and a heart touching ending. B. J. Daniels is a wonderful author. I love her books.
Midnight phone calls, secret agents love at first sight. Long hidden secrets come to light. Mysteries revealed, bombs stopped in the nick of time. Very intense.
The Winchesters have always been the talk of the town but not always for the right reasons! Now that McCall's Christmas wedding is just days away, everyone is afraid of more fireworks, seeing the volatile trend of the last few months.
'Sheriff McCall Winchester felt herself getting more anxious as Christmas and her wedding date approached. It was going to be tense enough just putting her grandmother and mother together. But when she added the rest of her family to the mix. it felt like a powder keg. All it would take was one spark to set the whole thing off. She knew anything could happen -and probably would.'
A near death experience and a seemingly set up criminal operation has T.D Waters suspicious of his boss, Roger Collins and when he gets a late night mysterious phone call telling him that he is not who he thinks he is and was adopted, his doubts about Roger's motives and his identity are strengthened. Roger had been the one who had rescued him after his parents had been killed and given him a new identity to protect him from his parent's killers, thus making him T.D Waters from Clarkson.
But if the Clarksons were not his parents then who are his reals parents and why haven't they never contacted him? Why was he not told that he was adopted? Why is Collins adamant on discouraging him in his quest for the truth? He knows that he has to find out the truth of his parentage and the truth is at the Winchester Ranch!
Elizabeth 'Lizzy' Calder is a fine detective and when Roger tells her to bring in the 'Rogue' detective T.D. Waters, she is more than ready to do her job. But what she has not anticipated is falling under his spell and ultimately questioning the truth of her directions from Roger Collins!
Anne and Janie McCormick, heartbroken by their mother's imprisonment and bitter against the Winchesters are planning on doing something big on the wedding day but the question remains Are they capable of something fatal and evil? How far are they willing to take this hatred and anger of theirs at harming the Winchesters? Can T.D bring out the years old skeletons from the closet, so to speak? Will McCall have a happy wedding at the Winchester Ranch or is it already set to doom?
Although I felt that the love between T.D and Lizzy looked a bit hurried and could have been given more depth still I loved both these characters. Janie's character of a shrewd, conniving and a bit unstable person was expertly sketched and managed to chill the reader to their bones. I felt sorry for Anne who seemed lost after losing her mother and hoped for a happy ending for her too..I sincerely hoped that she would come closer to Hunt and would have loved if Hunt was given more say in the matter instead of keeping him behind the scenes with practically no presence in the story except for just a mention of his name by other characters!!
The last book in the Winchester Ranch Series, Winchester Christmas Wedding, finally provides all the answers to us while it also opens and closes some new secrets. A very well wrapped series with satisfactory answers to all angles and a happy ending for all, I am finally at peace knowing that all is again well at the Winchester Ranch! :)
Sweet 4 stars out of 5 to Winchester Christmas Wedding and kudos to B.J. Daniels for imagining, planning and finally executing such expertly devised stories.
A Winchester Christmas Wedding is another VERY GOOD book by B.J. Daniels teeming with mystery, suspense, endearing and sometimes quirky characters and SEXY cowboys!
After losing his fellow DEA agent in a raid that has all the appearances of a set-up, TD Waters has plenty of questions but no answers as to the reason. As he delves into his past, deadly family secrets threaten TD and those near him. Will he survive discovering the truth?
Lizzy is an agent on a mission to find TD as he is now officially a rogue agent with too many government secrets to be left alone. But every time she is near him, her heart questions her mission...
This is the 1st book I've read from B.J. Daniel's Whitehorse Montana: Winchester Ranch series and it won't be the last. It is actually the 6th book in this series but that did not hamper my enjoyment of the story at all. It can easily be read as a stand-a-lone. No one writes western mysteries like B.J. Daniels. She's the master.
It was real emotional especially when they got stuck in two different place and one of them was in fire. you did not know if they were going to get out of the places and that was terrified and last it ended so well because it had a happy because the wedding took place and T.J Waters asked Lizzy Calder to marry him.
i gave this five stars if there were more i give it and the book only took me 4 hr to read i found the people in the book interesting and they were up to beat the way you keep us on edge about what happen was great and they had great ending and hope you have many more to the series
