So You've Been Appointed Executor

Rate this book
The executor's job is much more involved than you might initially believe. At its simplest, the executor's role involves documenting assets of the deceased, paying the bills for the estate, and distributing assets to the rightful beneficiaries. These in themselves are not simple tasks, and there are many more to come.

I would recommend this book as an essential FIRST BOOK to read when you quickly need to learn the duties of an executor. I read it in a few hours and it covered the scope of what an executor needs to do, how to proceed and when to get more help.
I've read other books by this author and I really like his style. He speaks in clear, simple language and his writing is logically laid out. A person can get an overview of the role then go into more detail on the 8 major steps, each with its own chapter. He finished up with a couple of good examples of typical estates, simple and more complicated.

The book doesn't cover the things a person needs to consider and understand when they are writing their own will, that is not the intention. However, by reading it and understanding the executor's job, a person is in a better position to make a good will.
