Excellent historical graphic novel! What great Bible conversations with the kids while reading it. This covers the nuances - no one side was good or bad in the whole of it. Some slaves were against Nat - protecting their households with their lives, hunting down the rebels, and testifying against them in court. Some white folks stood up for their falsely accused slaves and even tried to save them. Nat fancied himself a prophet who may have had a righteous cause, but without truly being a prophet killed women and children in their sleep, etc. Wild stuff! Great artwork and thought-provoking aftermaths at the end! An important turning point in history!

Very hard to tell properly the story to children so this is very lacking but ok within its restraints.

I liked this book because it told how a slave started one of the largest slave rebellions. It was a story of bravery with a tragic end. Why did he return to slavery after running away? I wouldn't have.
I chose this book because I enjoy history. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys history or biographies.
