Merete Pryds Helle (born 13 October 1965 in Charlottenlund ) is a Danish author.

After growing up in Charlottenlund with her sister Jannie Helle , Merete Pryds Helle studied at the Writers' School from 1988 to 1990 , after which she completed a bachelor's degree in literary studies from the University of Copenhagen in 1994 , specializing in Renaissance and medieval literature.

Merete Pryds Helle is an award-winning and critically acclaimed Danish author. She made her debut in 1990 with the collection of short stories, "Towards another tranquility", which she wrote during her studies at the Authors' School. It was the novel "Fishing in the River of Life", which was published in 2000, that became her major breakthrough. Here she was praised for her linguistic finesse and ability to describe human relationships.

Since then, she has embarked on essays, radio plays, sonnets and detective stories, but she is best known for the family novel “The Beauty of the People” (2016), which secured her the Golden Laurels.
