Think gaudy! Think kind of crude! While this book simplifies many faux finishing techniques, the examples are way over the top. If you can figure out nice colors to use ( and don't have a paying customer!), the simplified techniques here can be helpful toward getting your feet wet in learning decroative finishes.

This, & it's companion called Decorative Paint Recipes, are books I often refer back to. I highly recommend them.

I found this illustrated guide to various decorative paint techniques to be visually alluring, sensibly yet evocatively described and easily understood. As a functional artist whose business frequently requires me to be able to apply decorative finishes to furniture, accessories and walls; this how to guide has proven invaluable.
