For a quick, short novella, this story covered a lot of territory. The result, was an intense and emotional read without any dull moments. I honestly didn't think that the author would be able to tackle such an emotional and controversial topic as rape in so few pages and end up with a story worth reading. However, I had heard that it was a great read and decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised.
The characters and storyline felt incredibly well-developed for such a short story. Maybe the highly emotional topic had something to do with it, but I really felt attached to both main characters very quickly.
The sex scenes were hot and emotional. The characters had depth and even though the story progressed rapidly, I didn't feel like there was any irritating "insta-love" like in many novellas. The story also concludes with a HEA, which is hard to find in a quick read lately, as all of them seem to be a small part of a never-ending series. This one is not.
All in all, a surprisingly good read.

The heroine was itching to get back on the sadle again by using her expired hubby's BFF to rekindle her fake-rape fantasy. It seemed like she was using him as her punching bag & it's all "me, me, me, traumatized me". Then throw in a psychotic mom-in-law who's off the rocker since losing her twin sons. The rapey stuff as sexual healing tool was lame-o, all 'bout her telling him wot to do & wot not to do. Didnt buy her wanting to wrench the "control" back. U'd think after being raped by her bro-in-law, she woulda just moved to anotha residence & started a new life away from the crime scene. The hero was too beta for my taste.

When I first heard about Shiloh Walker’s Beg Me, I wasn’t certain if I would try and read it. But after reading some great reviews, I took the chance. The subject matter deals with a heroine who has been brutally raped, who feels the only way she can take back her sexuality and enjoy those forced sex or rape like fantasies she once enjoyed with her husband is to act out those fantasies again with a man she can trust irrevocably. Not many authors I know of can write a rape fantasy romance where I don’t end up squirming, uneasy by what I’m reading. Count me as one who is not a fan of pseudo-rape in romance, period. But what Shiloh Walker has done with Beg Me, is a rounding success. This may be my favorite book of hers behind Beautiful Girl. She not only taps into the heroine and hero’s psyche and their fears, but also the reader’s. Shiloh shows that the heroine Tania shouldn’t be ashamed of her wants and desires even after she has been horribly sexually abused.
When Tania Sinclair lost her beloved husband Kyle three years ago in a car accident, she never thought things could get worse. But for Tania it did when one January, Kyle’s unstable twin brother, Kent, who knew all about Kyle and Tania’s love life, ended up raping her. Tania fought back and killed Kent before he could rape her again. But even though he’s no longer among the living, he destroyed everything special she had with Kyle. And now when she thinks back to those special moments she had with Kyle, where they made passionate love and role-played where Tania pretended she was being raped, she feels dirty and sick. She needs to take back her life and give into her sexual desires once again. That’s when she turns to Drake, a childhood friend of Kyle’s, and now her best friend.
Drake has loved Tania for years, but because she belonged to another, he would never think of intruding. He could see how Kyle and Tania loved one another dearly, and even once walked in on one of their games that both shocked him, as well as turned him on. He wants to be there for Tania and assumes she only thinks of him as a friend. But this all changes when Tania asks him to help her take her fantasies back, and that means for Drake to be more than forceful when they are intimate, just like when she was with her husband. Drake enjoys rough sex, but what Tania asks him crosses some moral lines for him. The main question Drake asks himself if he can give Tania what she wants so she can heal, while not losing his soul in the process.
At around one-hundred pages, Beg Me packs a punch. Drake is wonderfully caring and very dedicated to Tania. He would do anything for her, even going as far as giving her what she wants knowing he’s not too thrilled with the idea. Drake will allow Tania to use him even if he has to do this by giving into her rape fantasy. At first Tania doesn’t realize how much she’s asking Drake, and those long last effects on his conscious. But as they cross those questionable lines, they both come to some important realizations about each other.
I must applaud Shiloh for taking a chance on writing Beg Me. This is one steamy and emotional read about two people who must come to terms with the emotional upheavals in their lives. From Tania’s horrific trauma, she finds the strength to fight back with the help of a friend who sacrifices himself for the woman he loves. This is one bravely written novel I recommend you read.

Why I Read this Book: I have been wanting to try contemporary erotic romance for a while now. To be honest, I was a bit intimidated. I didn’t know what to expect or just how ‘erotic’ erotic would be, especially when I saw the warning on this book:
I was a bit hesitant when I read rape fantasy. I have never read anything like that before and I didn’t know what to expect. So I took a deep breath, put my big girl panties on and decided to hand my contemporary erotic romance v-card over to Shiloh Walker. I love her writing style and really enjoyed reading Broken and The Missing so I put my trust in her hands and she didn’t disappoint.
What I Liked: This book packed quite a punch for only being a little over 100 pages! I didn’t think a story could come full circle, let alone such an emotional story, in so few pages but this author did just that. Beg Me read like a full length novel.
I felt such a strong connection with Tania and Drake. I ached for Tania, who’d literally been to hell and back. The traumatizing experience that robbed her of her precious memories with her husband broke my heart. The last couple of years have been really intense for her. All she wants to do is put it all behind her so she can move on and enjoy the sexual fantasies she once desired and she wants Drake to help her. Drake’s been in love with Tania since before she married his best friend. What he wants more than anything else is to be with her but that requires conquering some emotional hurdles.
What I Didn’t Like: I can’t think of anything I didn’t like. This was my first time reading contemporary erotic romance so I don’t have anything to compare it to.
Overall Impression: Shiloh Walker has (again) delivered a hot, steamy, emotional read. While she writes titillating love scenes, she also tugs at your heart strings. Beg Me focuses on not just the sex but the relationship between these characters as well. The raw emotions felt by the two main characters was intense. You can feel the chemistry between Tania and Drake.
While I enjoyed reading Beg Me, I will say that this is not a book for everyone. The main characters in this book enjoy partaking in rough sex and rape fantasies. Let’s tackle the elephant in the room – the rape fantasy element. The participants are willing and the sex is consensual. It’s role playing. There are safeguards in place, which made me feel more comfortable about reading it. If you’re okay with this and if you’re looking for a quick, hot read then Beg Me is it. If you looking for a contemporary erotic romance read to pop your cherry (like I was), then I think Beg Me is a good way to go.

And I think Shiloh Walker does an excellent job describing the horrific incident and struggle Tania has gone through, yet still keeps the book very sexy and romantic.
Although Tania likes rough sex and rape fantasy, and she knows she needs to get back to that point in her sex life to move on from the actual rape, there is also a very fine line Drake has to walk so he doesn’t push her too hard too fast. Once Drake gets a feel for how much Tania can handle..oh man does he become a dirty, sexy hero.
Drake is such a gentleman, and loves Tania so much. He takes the responsibility of having sex with her very seriously, which might not sound romantic, but really it a very sexy thing to do. The best thing he does is give Tania back her control. And in the process, he gives her so much love that it is impossible for her to not accept it.
Beg Me is a very intense, hot book but offers romance and for a shorter book, takes you on quite an emotional journey. I really enjoyed it.

Apart from this book being one of the most different books that I have read to date, I liked the “forbidden love” aspect of the story as in Drake loving and lusting after the wife of his best friend, but being honorable enough never to cross that line when Kyle had been around. And even when the playing field had evened out, Drake had bided his time until Tania had been the one to approach him and initiate things to take their platonic relationship to the next level. I absolutely loved Drake as the hero because even with all the intensely wicked role playing that was going on, he still managed to show his tenderness and love for Tania through his actions. The way Drake breaks down during the last couple of scenes just damn near broke my heart, and made me love him even more in the end.Though I enjoyed reading this highly unusual romance, I do wish that Ms. Walker had included some scenes of “normal” or rather tender love scenes between Drake and Tania that would have balanced out the story in the end.

This was o.k. and I debated on 2 stars (it was o.k.) and 3 stars (I liked it) since I did like much of it but I am not a fan of a lot of verbal humiliation (You are my c*&k slut, etc) and this was full of that type of talk. The rough sex parts were great and the story was good - but the humiliation/language pieces seemed slightly out of place. For some characters in books you can totally go there but for these two it just wasn't quite on. Not sure I can put my finger on it just that it seemed off. It might be because it tended to be such a quick transition and it was turned off and on with a snap of the fingers-- from "I'm your buddy" to "suck my c*^k you slu*" and so on. Now if it felt more like "scene's" I think it would have been different but it just didn't seem like that either. Almost like there were two stories here that didn't quite mesh. Still the rough parts were suitably rough and good :)

I read this novella as part of the Bound Temptations anthology but this review just includes my thoughts on Beg Me:
Now, I'll admit that if I'd realised the contents of this story before I picked the anthology up I probably wouldn't have read it so I'm not really the best person to judge this one. I'm not a fan of rape fantasies but I decided to give it a try because I like the author's writing style. I did like Tania at first, she had been through a horrible ordeal after the death of her husband and then being raped in her own home and I felt really bad for her. I can't even begin to imagine how messed up that would have left her and I admired her for wanting to take her life back and replace the bad memories with good ones. Drake was her husbands best friend and has been in love with Tania forever, he has always been there for her and was understandably the first one that she turned to.
Now I consider myself quite an open minded person and although Tania's fantasy isn't my idea of fun I don't have a problem with it as long as the people involved are consenting adults. The bondage side to their relationship and the dirty talk was fine and was even quite hot in places but events towards the end left me cold. Where it went wrong for me was when Tania practically forced Drake to do something that he was obviously very uncomfortable with - she was trying to wipe away the memories of her own rape which I can understand to a degree but that doesn't give her the right to force the man she is supposed to be falling for into doing something that hurt him emotionally. I felt so bad for Drake, he loves Tania so much that he would do anything for her and I felt she took advantage of that and it really made me dislike her. That scene ruined the whole novella for me which was such a shame.

My heart broke for Tania continually through the story. I can't even imagine what it would be like to have your husband's identical twin break in and turn against you, especially when family should have been there to help her cope with the loss of her love. The strength that she posses, able to get up out of bed every day, amazes me.
Drake was my idea Alpha man. I love my men to have a little bit of caveman, and he does, with enough love and devotion to be the domineering alpha I've come to love. Having to watch him struggle with providing everything to Tania, while still trying to do his best for her, was warming and amazing

I have to say I really enjoyed this book. Not only was this story intense, but it was emotional as well.
Tania Sinclair lost her husband, and she was brutally raped not long afterwords by his brother. The memories of the attack have united with her memories of her late husband. It left her unable to move on in her sexual life. Tania decides to ask her friend, Drake,who happens to be her late husband’s best friend, to help her put the past behind her by having an affair. Tania knows she’ll be safe with Drake and she trusts him to know when to stop.
Drake has always loved Tania. They had been spending a lot of time together since her husband's death and he is utterly shocked when Tania approaches him about helping her move on. Drake has always loved Tania. They had been spending a lot of time together since her husband's death and he is utterly shocked when Tania approaches him about helping her move on. 4.25+ RATING- The first time I read this book back in early 2013, I one starred it. I hated it, thought it was vulgar, and definitely not for me. I obviously was not quite the smut slut back then that I am today =)
After re-reading this one, I've changed my mind about my rating. This time around, I thought it was really sexy and left me feeling a bit dirty, but in the best possible way! Drake is quite the filthy talker. I mean wowzer... HOT! (I will say that not everything that comes out of his mouth is something that necessarily appeals to me but I thought in the scope of this relationship and balanced with the rest of his dirty talk, it worked!). The plot line deals with some difficult subject matter but I thought everything really worked the way it was written. I realize this title won't work for everyone but I'd have no problem recommending this to any of my GR friends that didn't have any trigger issues related to sexual assault and who enjoy erotic romances that may push some boundaries.
I now need to go back to my early erotic reads and look at what I may have rated low because it was too shocking or risque. There's no telling what I could be missing out on!

I really liked this book. I didn't like what happened to Tania after her husband died. I was sickened when I found out what her in-laws had done. I was glad that she turned to Drake for help. The sex was intense and I was on edge everytime wondering if she could deal with it. I really liked that she understood at the end what it caused Drake to help her that last time. That scene was hard for me to read because of his pain but I was reminded that some things are worth fighting for.

3.5 stars. I liked the characters and the chemistry between them, but I'd have loved to see more of an explanation behind her wants/needs in the bedroom. I think that would have made a difference for me, but then, I'm an emotional junkie when I read romance.

This was a very emotional read, as the warning blurb at the beginning of the book points out - Warning: This book involves light bondage play, rape fantasy & role-playing. The acts between the hero & heroine are consensual, but they may not be ideal for all readers...
Tania Sinclair was happily married to Kyle, a man who adored her and indulged her in her kinky fantasies. Then a car accident took him away from her. Not long after, someone she trusted attacked her leaving her scared and broken. Two years later, she's tired of waiting for things to go back to normal, and she wants to take her life, as well as her fantasies, back. There's only one person she can think of, who she trusts enough to make that happen, Drake Bennett. He was Kyle's best friend and hers too.
Drake has been in love with Tania since the first time they met, but she was already taken. He;s always been there for her, through good times and bad. More so after the attack on her two years ago. He'd do anything for her because he loves her. When she approaches him with her plea, he doesn't know if he should do it. He wants to because it's her, but he doesn't want to because she doesn't feel about him the way he does about her, and that would just shred his heart up when she got what she wanted. Where would that leave them?
This is definitely not one of those insanely hot, fluffy romantic stories most of us are used to. Not to say that it wasn't hot, but with Tania's attack and her fantasies at the core of this, it makes it a little difficult to feel anything other than sadness and pain for what she had to go through.
Some people might find her fantasies somewhat disturbing or even disgusting. However, fantasies play an important role in anyone's sex life, so really anything goes when two people are willing and trust each other. She was married, and she shared these fantasies with her husband, and no one got hurt.
Moving on, the chemistry between the two characters was off the charts. Drake's best characteristic was the way he loved, and the depth of that love. He didn't push, and he didn't try to fix her. My heart broke for Tania, especially when I found out who attacked her. It just made her emotional devastation even more poignant. The feelings they both exhibit is passionate but raw. One can't help but root for these two.
The only thing that put me off was the endless repetition towards the end of the story as Tania tries to get her point across to Drake; reiterating over and over why she wants him to do a certain thing to her. It was heart-breaking to read, mostly for Drake's sake at that point. This story isn't for everybody, but I found the honesty behind their feelings eventually overcame the dark theme.

Beg Me by Shiloh Walker won’t tickle everyone’s fancy since the storyline does involve a lot of naughty behind closed doors smexy action. People be forewarned…this is a very erotic short story that includes some bondage, spanking and rape fantasy role playing. In other words…this book is HAWT. There were a couple of times while I was reading it on the elliptical that I had to stop it was that smoking hot. I kept checking my Itouch to make sure it hadn’t caught on fire. Me - I wasn’t so lucky because hose me down Batman…I was burning up!

Everyone needs a superhero in their life…someone to scare away the bogeyman and check for monsters under the bed and every girl should be so lucky to have their very own Superman. Tania was one very lucky girl...ohh and if you're wondering...her plan worked to a T.

Okay. Not anyone could write about this subject and make it believable and also make it compelling without making a reader cringe, want to gouge their eyes out, or feel incredibly depressed. I CANNOT CANNOT read books that are going to make me depressed, which is way I am, never going to be a member of Oprah's Book Club – LOL.
Anyhoo, I must give Shiloh Walker kudo's for writing this story and completely engaging me in Tania and Drake's story. I've never met Ms. Walker but I feel a major girl crush coming on because I went in not thinking I was going to like BEG ME or worse be depressed, but when I read BEG ME, it wowed me.
BEG ME begins on the anniversary Tania's husband's death. Unfortunately for Tania not only does she have to deal with her husband's passing but an event that happened afterwards with her brother's twin brother that nearly destroyed her. For her husband's brother knew what type of games she and her husband played in bed and used that to try to destroy her. Now, because her husband was a twin she can't even look at a picture of her husband without feeling horror. Determined to get her sanity and fantasy's back she enlists the aid of her husband's best friend Drake. She wants to put a new face to her fantasies so that she may move on with her life. But Drake is leery because he's had a crush on Tania for years and doesn't believe that he can help her without getting emotionally attached, but because of his love, he decided to do whatever it takes to help Tania get over the pain she's been through.
Tania is engaging, strong, but fallible in a way that is completely believable. I love the fact that despite what's happened to her she isn't a victim or a perfect princess. She has her faults and sometimes does things that unintentionally hurt people. I loved Drake. He was so completely in love with Tania and so accepting of her nature. What woman wouldn't be completely wowed by a man who accepts you just as you are.
The ending was surprising. My only fault with BEG ME is that I thought one person should've been drawn and quartered and was disappointed when they weren't. Of course, that could've just been my completely vindictive nature. LOL.
OVERALL, I highly recommend BEG ME, especially for the price. BEG ME is a short story that didn't seem short and I closed it feeling completely satisfied.

Full of raw emotions that tug at your heartstrings Beg Me is an incredible story.
Erotic at times and heartbreaking at others this short story will grab hold of you and not let you go until it’s all said and done. Beg Me is certainly not going to be for everyone. The heroine enjoys rough sex, and rape fantasies – until she’s actually raped. This information is in the story blurb, so I’m not ruining anything for you, but what I want to point out is that it’s hard for most people to think erotic thoughts about a story where rape – real and fantasy- are the basis for the story. There’s no denying it has some rough scenes that some people will be both shocked and angry about, but it’s all part of the story. Not once did I feel any of it was there for shock value, or simply to push the envelope. The characters were real, and human and flawed. The hero and the heroine were also courageous and strong and sexual beings. They were full of emotion, all sorts of emotions, not just love and lust and happily ever after type fantasy romance feelings. This fact made all of their emotions feel real to me as I read the story-the fear, the anger, the desire and the love.
It takes a lot to make me uncomfortable, and I admit there was a time when I had to force myself not to skim ahead, but it was worth it. The most amazing thing for me was that during that scene my heart wasn’t breaking for the heroine, but for the hero. I’m not gong not say more on that that because I feel this is a story you need to read completely to form your own opinions on. The emotional connection between the characters, and between me the reader, and them, is what made the story erotic.
I highly recommend BEG ME to those who understand that it’s fiction, and everything that happens in the story is between consenting adults- and to anyone who wants to see an example of how any story can be erotic, when you focus on the characters and emotions, and not the number of sex scenes.

When I first read a review about this book over at Smexy Books, I was intrigued on how an author was going to write about such a touchy subject. Most authors won't even cross into the "rape" fantasies because they are considered taboo. Luckily, one of my favorite authors was willing to not only write about it, but blow my expectations out of the water!
Almost every erotic book I have read includes some sort of fantasy or role play during the sex act. What I found interesting in this book is the fantasy of being raped but in a consenting and pleasurable role play. Most people would shy away from this, myself included. The way the author portrays it in the book though, it is focused more on the aftermath than the actual rape itself. Yes, Tania loved playing out these fantasies with her loving and devoted husband, but that changed once someone takes the control away and forces himself on her after her husband dies in an accident. When Tania decides to take back her life though, she turns to the one person she trusts the most. She asks her husbands best friend Drake to help her work through it.
Ah, Drake. He has got to be one of my favorite Hero's in a story. He has the sex appeal, the caring and understanding mind, the ability to express his thoughts instead of holding them, and a Superman tattoo to seal the deal! Drake has always had a thing for Tania. He is willing to help her take back her life, but in the process he falls even deeper in love with her. A true Hero that not only saves the girl, but captures her heart at the same time. *sigh*
While I agree that this book is not for everyone, if you do decide to venture out and expand your reading base of erotic romance, then this one will be the one. I am glad I gave it a chance and I fell in love with Drake and Tania. The story was hot, steamy and sexy with just the right amount of suspense, heartbreak and angst that kept it balanced. Plus, Drake can be my Superman anytime!

When I first saw the self-advertisement for Shiloh Walker's Beg Me, I was intimidated by the subject matter. But after reading the reviews, I couldn’t help it – I had to read it for myself. The book deals with a heroine who lost her husband, was raped and now believes she can take back her sexuality, which includes extreme fantasy, by sharing it with a man she can fully trust. She turns to Drake, Kyle’s best friend and now her primary support system.
In its most basic form, Beg Me is a story of a woman finding the strength to take the power back in her life. Because Tania and Kyle’s intimate relationship involved rough sexual role-play, the rape leaves her feeling as if even her sexual relationship with Kyle was wrong and that her inner desires are dirty. The story quickly shifts as the heroine begins to take back her life, not only the power of her sex life, but the power to love again. Aware Drake has the same type of sexual preferences, Tania asks for his help. Though Drake questions if he can give Tania what she needs to heal while not losing his own soul, he cares for her and is willing to give her what she wants. Tania doesn't realize how much she's asking from Drake but as they cross that moral line, they come to some realizations about each other and their relationship changes forever.
This was an emotionally charged book. Walker does an exquisite job of exposing the heroine's psyche, allowing the reader to view the story through her eyes. Even though the sexual encounters did not appeal to me, I enjoyed the emotional thread woven throughout the book. Tania finds the strength to fight back with the help of a man willing to sacrifice himself for the woman he loves. Is there anything more real, more beautiful than that?

Shiloh has broached a sensitive subject, and I think she did so with compassion, whilst also bringing into the storyline a sexually explicit role playing theme.
When the story unfolded I was completely drawn to Tania, the main character in this. Her husband died in a car crash, and later she's raped by her brother in law (her deceased husband's twin). I won't go into details further than that, but the plot does develop, and there are some stunning and chilling twists to it. I felt all the anxiety and unsurity surrounding how Tania felt, and marvelled alongside her as she progressed from retreating from her shell and being a victim, to acceptance and moving on with the help of Drake two years on from the rape. She takes back her fantasies, and her life.
Drake is a fantastic character. He's been in love with Tania from the beginning, but as her husband's best friend, has put his feelings in a box, and watched her grieve for her husband, and been her shoulder to cry on when she needed support. He comes across as really compassionate and so sweet. He's Tania's anchor when she decides to take back her fantasies and live life.
The storyline is packed with emotion and can be hard hitting in places, it's hard to believe that this is such as short story, there's so much in here, you really don't notice until the end. If you're not a fan of the intimacies within the pages, the emotions alone from this book are very palpable.

this is another one of those taboo subject books. the rape fantasy kink has been used enough that it almost doesn't rate the definition taboo. but this one has a twist...the lead female in the story was actually raped.
and no, the fantasy isn't a twisted side effect from the rape. she had the fantasy kick before she was attacked, but it completely stalled her from healing because all those twisted feelings about what turns her on and what she needs to be okay with herself.
Ms. Walker handles it in a really great way, imho. there's moments that are disturbing, moments that are intense, and moments that are incredibly erotic.
the hero of the story, Drake, has a hefty secret. he's been in love with his best friend's wife for years. and Tania...aka Tawny...has had a double whammy to deal with. first the death of her husband, and then the rape. i don't want to give too much away because the story is something you should read.
it's sometimes difficult to read, and parts of it are almost insanely hard to deal with. but all in all, it's love that heals her and love that blooms out of all the heartache in the story. i devoured it in less than an hour.
i'll definitely be looking up more from Shiloh Walker, that's for sure.
and no, the fantasy isn't a twisted side effect from the rape. she had the fantasy kick before she was attacked, but it completely stalled her from healing because all those twisted feelings about what turns her on and what she needs to be okay with herself.
Ms. Walker handles it in a really great way, imho. there's moments that are disturbing, moments that are intense, and moments that are incredibly erotic.

I'm going to start off by saying that this book won't be for everyone. Those that are squicked by rape fantasies between consenting adults should probably pass it by. However, if you're willing to give it a try (the book, mind you, not the fantasy), you'll find a well-written look at a traumatized woman trying to take her life back.
Shiloh Walker does a fantastic job painting a picture of the depression and fear that Tania is dealing with. Her request to her dead husband's best friend to help her reawaken her sexuality might be unorthodox, but in the end it's about facing her fears and learning to put the past behind her. Every interaction Drake has with Tania is tender and full of emotion. He never does the things he does with her to hurt her, he does them because they both find enjoyment in them.
Overall, it was a well-written look at a woman learning to trust again. That the sex was hot is just a bonus. :)

while this book may have had some hot scenes and it is a story of moving past a traumatic event, it is the encounters with a sick,fucked up family member and what happens after. needless to say this was beyond fucked up. I gave it 2stars based on the hotness for the first half of the book. read at your own risk.

I'm surprised I never wrote a review for this one. Tania is one messed up woman. When we learn about her brother in law and her mother in law, I feel sick. Both of them are twisted individuals. It just goes to show, there sometimes is an evil twin. This short story was a quick read and sad.
