I like how the book presents detailed garden design for various scenarios.... but focus is on manicured water intensive landscaping solutions. Not at all what contemporary California landscape architects should be creating. This book looks like it was written in 1990.

This book gives you landscape designs so that you can actually use the book's designs and plants and not have to come up with your own design and plant list. There are lots of photos and a list of over plants to use in your garden.

This has actual planting plans and designs for different sized areas on your property, and instructions on how to build trellises, fences and arbors, plus clearing the site properly before planting. Includes plants native to California and drought tolerant. Very useful!
