Fairyland's Fairy Godmother is putting together a show for the King and Queen, and she's asked the Weather Fairies to perform. The fairy sisters work very hard and decide to put on a ballet celebrating the changing seasons and weather. All their hard work pays off, as they get a standing ovation! Bravo!

About the author

Daisy Meadows is the pseudonym used for the four writers of the Rainbow Magic children's series: Narinder Dhami, Sue Bentley, Linda Chapman, and Sue Mongredien. Rainbow Magic features differing groups of fairies as main characters, including the Jewel fairies, Weather fairies, Pet fairies, Petal fairies, and Sporty fairies.

Narinder Dhami was born in Wolverhampton, England on November 15, 1958. She received a degree in English from Birmingham University in 1980. After having taught in primary and secondary schools for several years she began to write full-time. Dhami has published many retellings of popular Disney stories and wrote the Animal Stars and Babes series, the latter about young British girls of Asian origin. She lives in Cambridge, England with her husband and cats.

Sue Bentley was born in Northampton, England. She worked in a library after completing her education and began writing for children once her own began school. Bentley is the author of the Magic Kitten, Magic Puppy, and S Club series and lives in Northamptonshire.

Linda Chapman has written over 50 children's fiction books, including the following series: My Secret Unicorn, Stardust, Not Quite a Mermaid, and Unicorn School. She lives in Leicestershire with her husband and daughters.

Sue Mongredien was born in 1970 and grew up in Nottingham, England. She has published over 100 children's books, including the following series: The Adventures of Captain Pugwash, The Magic Key, Frightful Families, and Oliver Moon. She has also contributed many titles to the Sleepover Club series and written picture books. Mongredien created the Royal Ballet School Diaries under the pen name Alexandra Moss. She lives with her family in Bath, England.

The fairies must give a gift to the king and queen, and their gift is a performance depicting each of their favorite weather/season. My granddaughter liked the story, of course. LOL

The weather fairies put on a ballet for the king and queen. Of course it wouldn't be a theater production without some nerves and mistakes leading up to the big performance. The fairies all pull together to help each other and learn their parts.

Our oldest has been fascinated by all things fairy for awhile now and she's worked her way through quite a few of the Rainbow Magic series by Daisy Meadows. Our youngest isn't quite ready to read chapter books on her own, so she often scoffs at the fairy books. But this one was a hit. Not only was it a shorter and easier story, but it involved ballet, which is one of her favorite topics. Slowly, perhaps, I think she's becoming more interested in these tales and we might yet see her become engrossed as well someday. In any case, this was a fun story to read together and it featured some of our oldest daughter's favorite fairy characters.

This is a good book about bravery and friendship as Crystal was worried about performing her dance in front of the King and Queen, but with the support of her fairy friends, she succeeds. It could be used as a stimulus for children to make up their own weather dances or music. I really like how this popular Rainbow Fairies series has been extended to include picture books, as it makes it much more inclusive and could encourage younger children to continue reading and progress to the novels.

This was so long! I'm reading it at lunch to Natalie and it just keeps going and going. Too much dialog getting every fairy in there multiple times and then describing their dances. Its probably an awesome story for a 7 year old learning to read, but it is a horrible read aloud for a just turned 3 year old.

This a very short and fun easy read! The seven weather fairies are invited to the fairyland ball, the fairies plan on dancing about how they feel about the weather. but when crystal gets nervous about performing in front of the king and queen, the fairies need to help crystal believe in herself.

Fun story book with a short bit of text for early readers. Very nice illustrations of fun fairy characters. This is a nice introduction to this series to inspire young readers to go on and read the longer chapter books featuring these characters.
