I love this book and right now my daughter has come to love it and brings it to me to read repeatedly. I think that this copy may actually be from my childhood. There is even a page where apparently I tried to add some of my own artistry to the illustrations. I Am a Kitten is so cute with cute kitties and the sentences are just short enough that I can read them as she flips fervently through the pages. I also think that as she gets older this will be a great short sentences book to use when learning to read. I love how sturdy this edition is and the larger size, I will definitely be looking to see if books like this one are still in stores and available to get more for my AppleBlossom.

Haha so apparently this was my favorite book in Kindergarten, according to my booklet I found today in my old stuff from over the years. I actually have almost zero recollection of this book, but I apparently loved it, so five stars I guess!

Because sometimes I feel like I'm five years old and just want to sit home and eat cookies and read very simple books
(I was going to say "books with no drama" but there is a page where the kitten and a puppy are afraid of each other. Spoiler alert: they become good friends.)

I love these older Golden books. I found this one at a Little Free Library.

I think this is a good elementary children's book, for beginning readers. I think that the book highlights routines and how they are common for everyone especially children, and how new things like meeting new people can be scary. I think that it shows when you meet someone at first it can be tough and you may seem like you are not going to like them but eventually they grow and everything is okay.

I was very excited to get the newest edition with brand new illustrations but the story was so blah. It’s very simple sentences and very instructional, not engaging at all. I guess it’s a good choice for early readers, but as an adult I didn’t enjoy the story. However the illustrations are so cute!

The children and I love this book. It is a simple story about the day in the life of a kitten. Since there is a kitten in the house - the kids especially love to hear this story - although children without a kitten would enjoy it too.
This is a sturdy board book with nice illustrations.
PS We also love "I Am A Bunny" by the same author. It is one of our favorites!

This was one of my favourite books as a child and now I think it'll be one of my daughters favourites as well. Simple phrasing and colourful pictures make this an engaging book for babies if all ages.

A favorite as it's an easy read with one of their favorite animals featured.

I still have the original copy, given to me by my grandmother over 50 years ago.

This is one that you will go digging for, saying "kitty cat" or "Kate" as you go. You seem to especially enjoy the pages where Kate talks about liking to play with all kinds of different things (every night you ask, "car?"), and the pages with Puppy fascinate you.
Lately, whenever we read books that you know well, you have a habit of getting to the second to the last page, and then closing the book so that the cover is on top and grunting so that I know to start the story over. It's kind of cute...for the first four or five times.

This is a very short book describing a kitten's daily routine, from the perspective of the kitten.
This is probably my favorite book.. I got it before I can remember. I still read it regularly even though I'm in my 20's. The illustrations are so bright and the text is easy to read. I tend to go to it when I'm having a bad day as it is a strong reminder of my first kitten, who sat in my lap while I read this to her.
I believe there is a puppy version of this book told from the point of view of the puppy featured in this book.

My Mom brought my childhood copy of this to me recently and I re-read it with Dylan and so many wonderful memories of this sweet story came back to me. No wonder I wanted a kitten so much when I was a little kid!

I love the updated illustrations on these "classic" Golden Books from 1970! So cute! A charming story for little ones, although little fingers that need sturdy pages to turn may be attached to wiggly bodies unable to sit through this whole story.

I love this book. It is the first book I ever read.

Notes:
very realistic kitten story
not as many nature scenes as in bunny or mouse books
