This book was recommended. it is one of the most unintelligent reads I have done. I am open minded and I do like urban books but the incorrect grammar and misspellings were really bad. Who edited this book? The story line was not that great either.

Really!!
First, this is an extremely violent book! I amount of beatings done to women and children made me cringe. The erotica was unneeded, And the story was unrealistic. What crackhead is able to smoke crack all day, be a Kingpin, lose 120 in 3 months, intimidate the entire neighborhood, bang several women and evade the police with no problems; all while high???? Really!!! And the author had the nerve to write several of these book??? It was free and I'm mad I downloaded it. Wasted my time and used cloud space for this crap

WOW..I don't even know what to say about this book.
A Child of a Crackhead is one the best books I have read this year so far.
This book will have your emotions all over the place, Heck the book had me dreaming about it. SMH...
Author Shameek Speight story line was well crafted. Shameek, where you get this from ( WOW)
The characters are very memorable
The main character Black Ice you will never forget...and I mean never..still SMH..
There are so many twists and turns in the plot it will definite keep your attention. You will never guess what Black Ice would do next or see it coming.

This story was a excellent read about a six year old love for his mother. The bond between this mother and child was so great it made me want to cry at times. The author did a very great job of getting that bond across. At times the way this child comforted his mother it was like he had been on this earth before he had an old soul and had very much wisdom for his young age. Meet Michael Ice Jr. the brave little boy who always tried to help his young mother escape the many brutal beatings that him and her suffered at the hands of his crack head father Michael Ice Sr. A.K.A .Black Ice.
Micheal Jr. doesn't remember the day that his father changed for the worst but he does remember that he only wants to beat them after he smokes that funny smelling stuff that gets his eyes all bucked. Not only did Black Ice torture his loving wife Rachel he also tortured anyone that crossed him.He might have smoked crack on a daily bases but he was still known as the most notorious drug dealer that ever walked the earth.
Black Ice loved for his woman to have to depend on him for life and in order to do that he had to make them dependent one something, and that something was crack. If he could get them hooked then they would have to keep coming back to him for more crack or money. That's the main reason why he beat Rachel because she didn't smoke crack with him, but one night she was forced as she watched her husband beat, stomp and burn there son to a bloody mess. Seeing the sight of her six year old child huddled in a corner beaten and bruised trying to protect her was the last straw. "All right I'll do it! I'll smoke crack with you," is what she yelled. "NO mama don't do it," yelled Michael from the corner he was laying in. Black Ice lead Rachel to the bedroom and from the first hit she was gone. That was the day that Michael Jr. lost his mother to the powerful drug crack cocaine but it was also the day that Michael vowed that he would kill his daddy for turning his mother into an out cold, stoned out crack head..
Shameek did a very awesome job in getting us the readers emotionally involved with the characters. I was very emotional every time this young boy tried to help or took a beaten for his mother..

On a scale of 1-10 how would I rate this book? I give it a 10
Would I recommend this book to anyone I know? Yes in a minute.

WOW!!! I have to say this first. The book was GREAT! I finished it within hours and quickly started on the 2nd book. However, the book isn't edited or formatted properly for the Kindle version. The poor editing really didn't intrude on my reading pleasure, but at times did make me take pause. Black Ice is a "MONSTER", yes he is the devil on earth. I have read many books with pretty bad characters, but Ice takes it to a whole new level.
I don't prefer reading stories with people being cruelly abused and mistreated. This was a gruesome read for me. It was action packed and kept a good pace, no lulls here. The story was a dark one, but was balanced (a Bit) with other characters. Oops I've started going into part II. I will end this review by saying that this book was worth the read and money spent. It is a keeper and one I would recommend.

WHOA!
This book was great! I can not wait to delve into part 2 and 3 of this story. I thought the author did a very good job of developing the characters. I like how we could immediately set the mood of who the villain was. A few things to point out were the grammatical errors. The lack of quotation marks made it hard to tell which character was speaking at the time. Another thing I wanted to point out is the title of the book, I believe that there could have been a better fit for the story but heyyy!!! who am I?! LOL <3

Horrible
this is the typical bull we have all seen in one movie or another it's been done before this book is too violent sex on every other page it's ridiculous that this author wasted time and paper to right this crap it's some good black authors out here but your not one of them this is yet another trashy ghetto mess I will not waste my time downloading the other series I'm deleting this asap I had to give it one star in order to post my comment but I give this crap no stars

This was a very good book. I loved it from the beginning to the end. Black Ice was the meanest, ruthless and most heartless person on the face of the earth. This book had me sad, raged and sick to my stomach, with the things that Black Ice had done to people in this book. Shameeka went real deep with this book and I look forward to reading part 2. This is a must read book.

I read this book based on my recommendations. I was a good story but I do not believe I will read the other books in the series. I have never been a fan of the urban drama because for me the growth of the characters are not seen. With that said it was an interesting story-line, I would have preferred a novel with a conclusion.

Wow, SMH...I was not ready for this book...I must say this book is a lot different from the love story books that I'm use to...None of that in here....but it was a good book...WARNING very gruesome tho...A few times I was not sure if I could finish but it kept calling me back...I look forward to reading part 2 because I'm just curious ...but I will have to get my mind right before I do...lol...

That man is past sick! Read it in hours. Just couldn't put it down even thigh I wanted too....lol. Writer needs to get a good editor because the mistakes were crazy.

This book is definitely a 5 star read it kept me on the edge of my seat there was a few times I had to stop reading it not because it wasn't good but damn Black Ice is a monster that no one can kill and it appears his son is going to be just like him.

Why did this book feel so long😫‼️ I’ve never taken this long to read 200 and something pages in my life…

Let me start by saying, this was technically recommended to me🫠 My friends and I were searching through crazy book titles and so happen to see this one.
When I first finished the book…I rated it a 2/5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ and honestly I don’t remember why I did that… this was probably the worst book I’ve read this year so far! I would never ever recommend this to anybody because WTF🤨. So I lowered the rating to a 1/5 for all the tears I’ve shed, the rants I’ve went on, the TRAUMATIC EVENTS that are worst than any extreme horror book I’ve read!
This book starts with a bang with Black Ice beating the living shit out of Rachel for apparently…”not smoking crack with him or whatever🙄.” She literally has to crawl under the bed…( which HE APPARENTLY CAN LIFT COMPLETELY OVER HIS HEAD AND AT THE SAME GRAB HER😦) AND THEN I GET ONE OF THE MOST EXTREMELY DESCRIPTIVE PARAGRAPHS THAT MADE ME SHIVER…SHIVER‼️‼️‼️ she slices his cheek to the white meat (my stomach just turned thinking about it)
Side note: the writing started off just bad…misspellings and grammar mistakes (which I would’ve let slid if I wasn’t so irritated) AND I’ve never read a book where every time we meet a character I have to their exact skin complexion😦 I don’t need to know that this MAN IS BLACK AS A BLACK JEWEL…OR THAT HE’S A BLACK MAN ON A BLACK COUCH🫠 please… that was one of the worst things about the book if I’m being honest. I understand that she’s a curvy mocha latte brown girl…WE GET IT ‼️
Anyway, can someone please (yes I’m begging 🙏🏽) tell me why Black Ice wanted everybody on crack 😦⁉️ like it makes no sense especially Rachel like Lisa for example, before she was on crack she was described to have her life together and kept herself and her house clean. AFTER, however, he wants to complain that her house is dirty and that she’s dirty like wtf 🙄 no shit Sherlock this is YOUR FAULT LIKE BFFR😭. Back to my point, I don’t understand why he wanted Rachel on crack so bad when he stays with her.
Side note: Rachel got on my fucking nerves 😭 I don’t want to blame her because she’s a victim and I understand it can be hard to leave but bitch come on now 🙄 you wanna be all dramatic and try to leave the first time after you slice his cheek but can’t leave when he literally threatened to kill your son 🫠 I hate that Michael jr. (if that’s his name I can’t remember) has to be in that situation BUT after reading the part about Rachel’s past I felt more sympathetic to her situation…idk it was just hard to balance my feelings for her.
The side plot where his friends were trying to take him out was entertaining so I guess that’s why it had a 2/5 star ⭐️⭐️. The whole triangle with the Ace and Caesar and the Ace’s wife shocked me honestly. Yk one thing this book is going to do 😭 it’s going to shock me.
Side note: Do you know what really shocked me🤨 that little Michael almost killed Black Ice but 6 people couldn’t in one scene😦 like come on now all these police officers, people trying to gun him down, and nobody can get this man one good time like WHAT… at that point is when I mentally checked out😖 I just couldn’t believe that Black Ice lived to see another day. ALSO SPOILER ALERT 🚨 He’s still on the streets watching from the shadows…that’s when the real tears came. I’ve cried throughout this book about 5 or 6 times and it absolutely drained me but reading that he’s still alive really ruined me.
The ending felt rushed in a way like he just killed all these people and STILL doesn’t get caught⁉️ I mean just body after body kid after kid like please😭 (okay I’m being dramatic about the kid thing but still he does kill one kid). Overall this book was terrible and I want my time back 😔 I would never recommend this book to anybody I mean it🫡‼️ if you decide to read it you have been WARNED⚠️‼️‼️‼️
Positives: nothing no joke 🙃, okay maybe the plot was interesting, A child of a crackhead
Negatives: it felt too long (even though it wasn’t), every character and when I say EVERY I mean it, the cover, the fact that there’s a 9th book, the description of color, the writing, the dialogue (and yes I have examples), BLACK ICE, the crack epidemic 😷, the gory descriptions just everything 😖, pound and hump, the explicit sex scenes that weren’t needed
Now my “favorite” dialogue from this dumbass nightmare:
“She moaned with each hard and deep thrust making her ass smack up against him. “Tell me this is my pussy now!” (Does this not sound awkward in and out of context 😭)
“Give me this pussy. I hear you out there fucking. It’s about time I get a piece of this ass!”
“I think Black Ice is falling out. Look at all the weight he dropped. He went from being 230 pounds to 150 or 160 when he started smoking that shit hard up. ” ( like why do you know that😖)
“Damn, that pussy is good girl.” (HUH😦)
“Black Ice laced the weed with crack and didn’t want to hit it, but knew he had too.” (Lock this criminal up please😫 I’m begging)
“No, daddy, only you put it on me like that. He can’t go that long or that deep.” Lisa said to Caesar about Ace. (This is messy as hell🫠)

Then of course Rachel (mom) yelled also quit hitting Michael Jr.
After hitting her husband, his blood was everywhere.
He was not dead though.
Her/son vanished out the apartment front door.
Black Ice (drug dealer) had his crack cocaine & his mistress Roxy Walker.
Brownsville Projects (234 Mother Gaston Ave). Ace & Caesar sold drugs for Black Ice.
He had another job for them.
Roxy’s 2 nigga lover’s bodies that had been tag teaming her were to be dumped in the Coney Island Ocean.
She was badly beaten but still alive.
Ace headed home to his family: Lisa (wife), Aaron (5, Ace/Lisa’s son), & Mark (3, Lisa/Caesar’s son).
Black Ice continued the verbal/physical family abuse & sexual abuse of her.
J-Rock (drug dealer) & his bunch sell drugs over on Pitkin Ave.
Brookdale Hospital. What did Dr. Paul tell Black Ice & Rachel?
Caesar Rose & J-Rock plans are to kill Black Ice & vice-versa. He plans on killing those 2.
Juice (pusher) was shot & lay dying. The cop was already dead.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great movie, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great movie, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

I see why this book was free on Kindle. This book is an unrealistic fantasy of a sick man. This book is filled with domestic violence, rape, murder, child abuse, and torture. The book was easy to read and I read the entire book within four hours. I only read the entire book, because I hate leaving a book unfinished. I will not read the rest of the series, because I have no interest in entertaining such an unrealistic and violent tale.

This book was the bomb. I'm sorry I waited so long to read it. I couldn't put it down. If you haven't read it you are sleeping on a 5star banger. I can't wait to read parts 2&3 to see what happens next.

Dislike! A sad, disgusting and poorly written book. I will not bother reading the next book in the series.

DNF this one. For me, having been in these situations it just didn’t feel relatable. I don’t know if or what the author has been through that’s no my business but for me it felt like an outsiders POV and I couldn’t get past that.

This has the potential of being a 5 star book. Poor editing , too many mistakes and poor grammar. That ending had me baffled….

This book was ok. It had a lot of violence and killing in it. Especially with children. It was kinda disturbing to read this and think that this could be happening anywhere in the world.

OMG.... I'm sitting here speechless.... This book was crazy in a Good and Bad way. The only reason It didn't get that extra star is because I couldn't stomach some of scenes.
My heart literally went out to little Michael, I have cried so hard for him and the love he has for his mother. No kid should have to grow up as fast as he did and not get to enjoy kid stuff. I can't even begin to talk about his father Michael Sr aka Black Ice aka "THE DEVIL" in my eyes.
I have to admit I have been skipping over this book because of the title but after finally reading it is a MUST READ

I'm an author that focus' on putting my best into my work. I republished my book after finding one sentence that I repeated. I don't know what makes a best seller but I feel many people deserve a refund. I assume this book has a story the writer was trying to tell, but it is poorly written, repetitive, has many grammatical and spelling errors. I was interested in the story, but I don't like that it was told with such poor writing. Many parts of this story were unrealistic also. I can't believe I finished more than one thinking it would get better. It didn't get any better. I'm so disappointed.

While Shameek Speight didn't disappoint with the wow factor of his scene and character development, there were FAR TOO MANY spelling and grammatical errors that were so simple and could have been resolved with the utilization of a grammar program or a human proofreader.
Aside from that, Mr. Speight succeeded in making Black Ice that 1 character you love to hate, with his ruthless ways of dealing with anyone who dared to defy his demands.
Spoiler alert: If you can make it through, Part 3 explains how he came to be the ruthless killer and crackhead as an adult.

Crazy violence ,graphic,gory ,hard to process.The violence is unnerving Don't want to say it took away from the story ,because it is the story ,but be warned..

I don't know where to begin with this book. But Black Ice is like a cat only he has more than 9 lives. It's unreal at some point in life he should've died or got locked up. Plus there is no way he should've still had the bulletproof vest. I honestly don't know what to think about this book. I'll read the other installment and make my final decision then.

this is the first book i read by this author and i thoroughly enjoyed. i truly felt bad for michael and his mother as they could never truly escape the wrath of black ice. i will say that black was a very disturbed person and a tad bit scary. im looking forward to continuing with this series

If you easily have nightmares Do Not read!!!!!!!! For thoes that can take it it will have you shocked and soo many emotions!!!!! I think the name wasnt a good title Because it wasnt focused on the child but i can see where the author is goin with it!!!!
