The sudden appearance of superpowers might transform most mild-mannered men into egomaniacs with visions of grandeur. Fortunately, Vic Braunson isn’t most men. His powers come from his lover, Matt diLorenzo, and Vic refuses to let the abilities control or change him.
But even he can't stop the powers from enhancing who he is.
The V in Vulnerable is the fifth and final story in the Vic and V series. Matt is on a quest to find the perfect ring that will symbolize the love he shares with Vic. A sale ad in the Sunday paper gives him the idea to stop by a local jewelry store on his lunch break the next day. Unfortunately, his co-worker Roxie decides to tag along.
But that's not the worst of it. A trio of criminals strike the store while Matt and Roxie are inside. When the police arrive, what started as a simple robbery quickly turns into a hostage situation.
With the cops at a stand-off, Officer Kendra Jones places a call to the one man she knows will be able to help. Vic.

In the ongoing saga of Matt and Vic, this fifth installment is quite possibly my favorite, if only because of the shaving. It has been noted throughout the story of Matt and Vic that Vic is shaved clean. His head is bald, his body is bald. His big, tough, sexy, smooth and completely Matt’s. So it was a surprise to me that in their time together, with Vic shaving himself every week, Matt had never done this for him or with him. I’m glad they waited, so I could read it, because it was endearing, sexy and adorable. Did I mention it was sexy? Matt is normally so self-assured and confident, to see that more vulnerable side was lovely.
I also enjoyed how the story showed that not everything in Vic and Matt land is perfect – Vic suffers through getting scalded in the shower nearly every week because Matt doesn’t listen. “Matt listened to him, mostely. Well, when it counted at any rate”. What I liked was, Vic realizes it, accepts it and doesn’t let it get to him, because it isn’t worth it. He’d rather get scalded by the toilet flushing while he was in the shower than lose any time with Matt.
When Vic gets to be a superhero for real (in a monstrously cool way, BTW) it is for his Matty. That it happens in a jewelry store, when Matt is looking for rings for he and Vic, makes it even better. He gets to save the day and his man. Matt is always asking Vic to promise not to put himself in danger with his powers, for anyone. But how can Vic not save the man who means everything to him, shares a telepathic bond and makes him whole?
The ending to this series is lovely, and the ending to this book is absolutely perfect. Just loved it, and them.
I love these characters ~ they are sweet and fun and the sex is hot.
There are so many unique stories about these guys (38 right now!), it's a blast to follow them. I have their books from all different sources - I suggest going to the author's website to get a complete list and the order they should be read in.
