Recommends it for: teens, artists, anime junkies,
This entire series is amazing! It is beautifully thought-out, funny, poignant, and somewhat moving. It's a far cry from any of your stereotypes of Japanese anime/manga. It tells of ancient Japanese culture, the modern Japanese, and begs for equality, mercy and enlightenment, while breaking into funny, loving, and occasionally tear-jerking moments. The characters are fairly well-rounded, and easy to bond with, along with being a fantsy-lover's dream. To read "Crescent Moon" is to be open-minded.

Backed into a corner and forced to use desperate measures, Nozomu and Akira get Keiko to help them by acting as if she were kidnapped, and they send a ransom note to Hokuto telling him that if he doesn't meet them at a prearranged location with the Teardrop of the Moon that he has in his possession, they will kill Keiko. Meanwhile, at the Moon Palace, Mahiru and Mitsuru's deepest feelings for each other are finally revealed, but not all is safe and peaceful yet, because first they must rescue Mi ...more

This was a short-lived, but fun little adventure, involving supernatural creatures of the night (vampires, werewolves, demons, etc), but presented in a way that was strangely refreshing. Not necessarily original, but a breath of fresh air compared to the hundreds of vampiric modern-day lore that has been dominating YA shelves for the past decade or so...

Basically, what I'm trying to say is though, yes, there's a teen girl who gets involved with these "monsters" and helps to hide their identity/

Well, I'm not entirely sure what to say about the conclusion (?) of this series. I put a question mark there because at the end, Matsuda-san wrote "Thank you very much for sticking it out to the end of the first part of "Crescent Moon" so I guess there was more? But I can't find any info for a second part online, so not sure if it's actually the end.

Aaaaanyway.... the end seemed a bit rushed, like they had to throw in a whole bunch of stuff so it went kind of quick. I didn't entirely dislike it,
