This one is kind of confused and feels rushed, as if Pohl was in a hurry to start on his next project. I'll bet he had a fun vacation in Hawaii doing the research. It can't quite decide what it wants to be when it grows up. It's okay, but not up to his usual standards.

I would swear that Pohl didn't write this book. I know he did, but come on. It's premise is pretty much taken for granted nowadays, but that's not the worst of it by a long shot. Perhaps he was just trying something new and moving out of his comfort zone. I can't recommend it. This makes my 35th Pohl novel. Excepting a few of his collaborations, this is my first disappointment.

An odd little book that leaves a lot of loose ends not tied up. Definitely far from Pohl’s best work—feels like a draft that would have needed some considerable work before being ready for publication. I still enjoyed it.
