Orgasmic

Rate this book
Orgasmic springs from a delicious idea -- a book of erotica that explores every possible type of orgasm. This highly original concept could only have come from the delightfully dirty (and brilliant) mind of Rachel Kramer Bussel. Oral sensations, digital delights, tricks with toys, and the old bump and grind are all featured, along with many more imaginative ways to bring a lover to climax. By taking the reins, one woman finds pleasure on top; an experimental lover discovers ecstasy with a remote-controlled vibrator; body and soul merge in multiple orgasms through tantric sex. Orgasmic covers it all, from the familiar to the uncharted, opening up a Pandora's Box of scenarios and techniques to bring readers to new heights of pleasure.

"For women" huh? Well here I am, dirty male ninja infiltrator into your eros, my sweet little orgasmic female. Lurking there, trying to see it with your own mind's eye, if not feel it with your body's bud.

And what I see is beauty I'm not accustomed to. There really is a layer of transcendence, at least when it comes to verbal expression, that doesn't exist in lesser works of erotica. Now, whether or not these refined works are to be considered something exclusively "female" or "for women" might be a matter of debate.

Super enjoyable and hot. Also, exciting and relaxing at the same time, like all the other best things in life. Some of these stories are small masterpieces of unexpected depth. Be prepared to be taken away.

A specific goal of this anthology was to explore a wide territory, to represent many different ways that women can achieve orgasm. It achieves this ambition with flying colors, providing plenty of solid standards with a healthy dose of more unusual fare, including orgasms from piercing, horseback riding, smells, tantric sex, and more.

I particularly appreciated the emotional complexity of many pieces in the anthology, which lifted the book far above being a simple tool for getting off. Susie Hara's "Fixing the Pipes" glows with a warm, goofy sense of humor that becomes a lovely representation of loving marriage. "Hurdles" by Rowan Elizabeth portrays a couple's discomfort when the man can't make the woman come as easily as he might like. Andrea Dale's "All She Wanted" addresses a kinky pregnant woman's desire for the rough play that makes her come.

The story I personally found hottest was Lily Harlem's "Making Shapes," which used a dildo to capture the fantasy of having sex with two versions of the same man. A close runner up was Donna George Storey's "The Big O," which made me want to do Kegel exercises while also exploring the consequences of a lover away on an extended trip.

That said, Orgasmic passes the key test of well-written erotica: I was fascinated and engaged with the book even when I wasn't turned on. The material was solid from start to finish, and sufficiently diverse that the anthology never felt repetitive or predictable.

Rachel Kramer Bussel has collected a fine set of short stories for this anthology. The range of experiences is wide, going from vanilla to very kinky and wild. My favorites are THE WAITING GAME by Elizabeth Coldwell, CHEMISTRY by Velvet Moore, PAYING IT FORWARD by Kendra Wayne, MOON TANTRA by Teresa Noelle Roberts, and FROSTING FIRST by Lana Fox. They were very hot and stories to prep you for an evening of fun.

Not just for women

An exciting collection of tales to read. The one mistake I made in reading it was reading it during my lunch hour at work. At times it tested my ability to concentrate. Ms Brussel has put together a fine group of female views of their orgasms whether achieved alone or with someone. It doesn't matter if they were home or out, each story climaxes in mind blowing fun. Well worth the read.

I love the concept - a collection of short stories about all the different ways that lead to a woman's orgasm(s). While almost all the stories were straight woman-man encounters, there was a nice range between trusted partner / stranger, and vanilla / kink. As with all collections, some were better than others. These ones were my favorites, either for uniqueness or quality of writing:

The Waiting Game - just what it sounds like
Share - a g-spot toy leads to a unique orgasmic experience
The Big O - new meaning to the word "sexercise"; slow & tantalizing
Making Shapes - a woman with an unusual job gets a fantasy to come true
Belted - dark and honest take on a craving for pain
Taking the Reins - a classic on the pleasures of horseback riding
Switch - a clit piercing leads to sharper pleasures

Variety is the spice of life

There is a little something for everyone here and the length of each story gives all a chance to read something new before getting bored to death. Recommend to anyone short on reading time but needing a bit of inspiration between their busy daily activities.

An erotic romance compilation of 25 short stories which explore a number of means for the female exploration. Although titillating, there was nothing unique regarding these stories.

A great little read that was over way too fast! Such a varied collection of short stories, but each of them had their own charm, and I just love how different they were!
