I tried, I really did but totally lost patience, the humour worked in the first book but is now old hat!! Hope is supposed to be a 30 year old woman but behaved more like she belonged in a school playground as she constantly behaved like a spoilt teenager....and don't start me on the people who live in this town, they are unbelievable thick!! I hate giving up on a book and declaring I can't finish it, but in this case I have to put my hands in the air and surrender :(

"Make Mine a Bad Boy" is the second installment in the Deep in the Heart of Texas series by Katie Lane. I was plesently surprised with this book. When I recived this novel, I thought I would have a hard time reading it all the way through..I guess I judged the book by it's cover and title. I'm now glad I didn't. This novel is full of charm and southren whit, right after I finished (only a few hours after starting it I might add) I was looking for how more novels are in ...more

With this book I found myself really liking all the crazy people of the town, but Hope and Colt's actions not so much. Here they have been attracted to each other since they were kids and being kids they did what normal kids do when they don't know what to do. Colt irritates Hope to no end, while Hope ignores him and runs and dates her BFF, Slate. It didn't help me at all that Hope acted like a spoiled brat, who for the first time in her life, isn't getting her way, while Colt has a chip on his

The prodigal town sweetheart has returned to Brambles to redeem the life she left behind, only to find that it has been stolen by someone who is her spitting image! Hope thought she would always have Slate to marry when she’s good and ready, but when he ties the knot with Faith, Hope doesn’t know if she’s ready to share everything with her twin sister. To make things more complicated, Colt Lomax rolls back into town – and with him, comes memories of their recent night of passion. When passion en

After having read and thoroughly enjoyed Lane's first book in this series, I was really looking forward to Hope's story. Unfortunately it just didn't pan out as well. While it is filled with all the small town wackiness and fun that inhabited the first, what promised to continue in the feisty town sweetheart and the resident bad boy, disintegrated into two people who spent most of the book ridiculing and calling each other nasty names then running away at each sign of trouble. It is hard to symp

I really loved the first book in this series "Going Cowboy Crazy" and certainly wasn't disappointed with the second. I'm hoping this author will write more in this series, because there are so many great characters living in the Texas town of Bramble that I'd love to re-visit.

Second in the Deep in the Heart of Texas romance series revolving around the people and history of Bramble, Texas. The couple focus is on Hope Scroggs and Colt Lomax.
My Take
It's inventive, comic, and oddly romantic, although the writing in this one takes a dip. It's like Lane is still working on her writing chops. Of course, it could be simply my disappointment with the character she created in Hope Scroggs. Sure, she's believable as the girl who tries to fulfill everyone's expectations, but tha ...more

Again, I loved this book despite itself. Spicy contemporary Texas romance, set in a small town, with a cast full of quirky characters. I rolled my eyes at the twin communication...but suspended disbelief and just rolled with it. Just fun.

Make Mine a Bad Boy starts right where Going Cowboy Crazy leaves us. Hope “Hog” Scroggs returns to her small home town Bramble Texas after a not so impressive start to her acting career to marry her childhood boyfriend, only to find out he’s marrying her twin sister Faith Aldridge who she didn’t know existed.
I didn’t like Hope much in Going Cowboy Crazy, she seemed like a spoiled conniving person, that if she didn’t get her way you’d be sorry, but I figured since this was her book I’d give her a ...more

So the narrator is good. But I don't like her voice for Hope, so I knew I was going to have issues with this one. I knew I should have read it instead of listening to it, because I knew I didn't like Hope's voice, and this was Hope's book. But I muddled through anyway.
I really don't like how the only description of Rachel Dean is that she has 'man hands' and that literally gets used in every single paragraph the woman is in.
The townsfolk really are dumb. To be fair, had I know that this was goin ...more

The sophomore effort of this fluffy fun series picks up at the wedding that ended the previous installment from second twin Hope Scroggs' point of view and her true feelings about the bride and groom. Hope is full of self-pity and is determined to not enjoy the wedding or wish Faith and Slate joy when Colt Lomax strolls into the wedding reception.

I LOVE Colt, such a sensitive, hot bad boy, I want to lick his tatttoos...and I so love the "special" part of his tattoo =) I really enjoy MMABB, it was different than Going Cowboy Crazy. There didn't seem to be alot of tender moments between Colt and Hope, however each had tender thoughts about the other in their head...I didn't want to like Hope but something kept a soft spot in my heart for her, but the end I loved her. I love the town of Bramble and all the nosy townfolk. I hope to see more

I didn't care much for Hope in the first book. The whole town catered to her and she was a real witch to Faith. In this book I didn't care for her at first but she grew on me. Colt is the town bad boy who would so anything for his sister Shirlene. He's loved Hope forever but she only had eyes for Slate Throw in a few laugh out loud moments and I really enjoyed this book.

Make Mine a Bad Boy the 2nd book in Katie Lane’s debut Deep in the Heart of Texas series takes off where the first book Cowboy Crazy left off at Faith and Slate’s wedding. Whether talking movie or book it’s rare for a sequel to live up to the high expectations set for it by a highly successful original. And unfortunately, that holds true for Make Mine a Bad Boy. Its not a bust by any means. It’s just not IMHO nearly as good as Cowboy Crazy.

Hope had a plan. She was gonna go to Hollywood, become an actress, then come back home to Texas, and marry Slate. When Hollywood failed she decided to go back home. Little to her knowledge, Slate is marrying her twin sister, Faith, and she’s home just in time for their wedding. Enter Colt Lomax. Colt has always been Bramble’s bad boy. He’s got a passion for motorcycles, the open road, and pushing Hope’s buttons; ALL of her buttons. These two have an irresistible connection that will soon go beyo

This book starts with a wedding, but it's not Hope's it's her twin sister's. Hope feels like this should of been her, but it wasn't in the cards for Hope to marry Slate. The wedding reception gets real interesting when Colt comes to town to see Hope. Colt and Hope have a love hate relationship, but they can't stay away from each other. Everyone in town thinks the worst of Colt and won't believe that he didn't just get out of jail. Colt moved away and made a name for himself. Things take an inter

3.5 stars. For a cliche-riddled romance novel, this was exactly what I needed it to be. The hero is damaged but strong, the heroine is feisty but vulnerable. I felt like I should have read the previous book about Faith to get a better handle on the complex relationships, but it was an enjoyable 328 pages even without the full backstory.

This is a cute story. Hope leaves Brambles, TX for Hollywood to become a movie star. After five years of going nowhere, she is back home hoping to marry Slate. The problem is that Slate is marrying Hope's twin sister Faith. At the wedding reception, Colt shows back up after bring gone for five years. Everyone thinks that he is a motorcycle bum not knowing that he owns his own business building custom motorcycles. There is a past history between Colt and Hope and it is fun watching them find thei

Hope is home again in Bramble and not sure about this identical twin sister thing. She's forced to watch her high school sweetheart (and backup) marry her twin sister she never knew about. Everyone expects Hope to be brilliant and settle down with a proper man, but Hope feels set adrift when local badboy Colt breezes back into town. I loved the interplay between Hopr and Colt throughout the book and how Hope and Faith's relationship starts to become deeper. A great second book in the series!

I picked up this book from the romance section to figure out how to write romance/smut scenes. I'm not a fan of cowboys and Texas/southern charm, but this book was okay. The main couple are stereotypes (good girl and bad boy) and there's lots of the usual romance tropes. Not a book of substance, but it was easy, mindless "junk food" that was perfect for reading over my winter break.
