A romantic suspense story about endangered tropical birds. The heroine is a biologist specializing in birds who is recruited to help stop the smuggling of endangered species. But when she goes on her first job, her partner, who is the real law enforcement specialist, gets sick. She's not willing to just give up, but she has to be rescued more than once by an American expatriate beach bum, of sorts. He's the hero of the story. There's lots of excitement, attraction, and a bit of indulgence in that attraction. It's quite late in the story when we learn why the hero became a supplier of art souvenirs for cruise ship tourists on a Mexican pier, but it doesn't really matter. We already know he's a good guy. It's a good read. I liked it.
