Fun and flirty.... with drama and suspense. This was a good read.

I enjoyed it for the most part. However, there were some fillers that didn't propel the plot forward....for example the whole Omar romance. It should've been edited. I kept expecting him to make a reappearance because the prospects were good, but his character somehow got lost in the shuffle. I felt Jade's best friend, Milan, storyline slowed down the pacing. It didn't add any value to the main plot. The characters development was Fun and flirty.... with drama and suspense. This was a good read.

It didn't add any value to the main plot. The characters development was nice. The author did a good job diving into the feelings of her characters. It was evident she spent a lot of time exploring all of them. I can't say I cared for the romantic interest, Cain. He was hypocritical in his way of thinking. I didn't understand why he was so upset with his new girlfriend Jade while he basically did the same dirt. I felt the author glossed over his wrong doings without much explanation or remorse. This brought down my rating. He just turned me off completely. The food descriptions were okay. It wasn't as descriptive and mouth-watering as her other novel Cater to You. From the enticing title and introduction I was anticipating some yummy dishes and some down home cooking. But that wasn't the case. Still good, nevertheless.

The story is set in Long Island New York centered around an African American woman, Jade, who runs a successful restaurant. She's recovering from a nasty break up after catching her fiancé cheating. Meanwhile she meets this handsome guy and hesitantly embarks on a new romance. But something in her past prevents her from moving on with her life.

Over all, this was a quick, romantic, read. The sex scenes were tastefully done, very sexy without being overwhelming. The characters were engaging and dramatic. This novel not only takes you on a culinary adventure, but on a journey cross seas. YAY!

Is this a bookclub read ? Nah. There wasn't enough depth and complexity. But it makes a wonderful weekend read with a good glass of wine. The writing was smooth, suspenseful and sexy. If you a foodie and love urban romances....give it a go! 3.5 stars. ...more

What a wonderful fun story of love lost and found, the joys of sisterhood, friendship and new discoveries of who we ultimately are and can become. I really enjoyed Jade's story and look forward to the continuance of the series. I truly can appreciate a woman who may have things all together in one aspect of her life but lacking in others, mainly trust. loved it... awesome love story my favorite character was Cain I loved the man he was for Jade. She reminded me of me in relationships however I clearly would have ended a relationship she mended. five star read for sure Shamara did it again....
