I'm working on creating a booklist for my local public library. This book was one in consideration for this list.
This will not go on my list. It is the same problem with the other Berenstein Bears book I read, which doesn't bode well considering I have three others to look through. Basically, the Christian overtones are too strong, making it a book about being Christian than being well-mannered.
Also, this book was less about manners and more about good deeds. They could arguably be the same, but, as mentioned previously, the Christianity element makes it about good deeds because the Bible said so, not just because they are good deeds.
If one is teaching their children Christian values, I would recomment Berenstein Bears, apparently.
