Sometimes a helper can help too much! When Uncle Rabbit comes to visit, he can’t find anything he likes—not Wallly’s wallpaper, not his curtains, not even his pillows—and Uncle Rabbit is determined to help. Before Wally can blink an eye, Uncle Rabbit is repapering the living room. Then he gets busy at the sewing machine making new curtains and cushions. He’s driving poor Wally crazy. And it doesn’t help one bit that Mae thinks Uncle Rabbit is wonderful.
Uncle Rabbit came to visit his nephew, Wally. During the visit, Uncle Rabbit starts to rearrange things and the change made the nephew mad because his nephew’s home doesn’t look the same anymore. This book really shows how much family can be annoying, yet they care for you in the most stressful way. This book is appropriate for kids four and up because they’re starting to learn responsibilities such as cleaning up the room. The book doesn’t make any race, gender, or other stereotypes references because the book is characterized with animals where the uncle is the rabbit and the nephew is the bear. Each page that the uncle tries to clean the room, it is where the theme is almost there for the audience but not quite because the nephew have did not talk to his uncle until the end. As for the illustrations, the background colors are light so that it contrasts with the characters. The darkness on the bear and rabbit makes them stand out so that the reader can be aware of the action. The color texture is quite realistic and the setting of the house itself makes it seem relatable to the reader. Shadow effects from the characters are also shown which makes the illusion of the characters, more real. Uncle Rabbit took down or removes certain things from Wally’s house because Uncle Rabbit wants to replace it with the things that Uncle Rabbit like. The illustration of the background matches the personality and perspective of each character; for example, the carrot wall paper fits with Uncle Rabbit.
