Senegal
The furthest West in Africa
The good:
They have baobab trees, some over 1,200 years old! Amazing birdwatching! Gorgeous pink lake!
The bad:
Senegal profited off selling slaves BEFORE Europeans arrived (Trans-Saharan trade pre-15th century), DURING European, and continued profiting off selling slaves AFTER Europeans had already Abolished theirs.
The encouraging:
They made wildlife parks to protect local wildlife, have many world heritage sites, and thriving music and dance culture!
