Deceptively simplistic in its wrapping, but complex in its themes.
An unconventionally complex examination of religion, faith and the folly of blinding stubborn belief. All wrapped in a wildly creative anthropomorphic world where a demon zombie cat fights a glowing eyes snake god. I breathe for this shit. Bravo.

Karic leads the assault on the capital in a wonderfully inventive way! King Icarus, the antagonist, receives the result of his hubris in a Machiavellian Royal court.

This was amazing!! The pace, the action, everything was just perfect. I was really rooting for these little mice. I wonder how the story will unfold after this event.

Finished. Now working on the next set. This is a rich set of mythology driven books combining Norse mythology, celtic mythology, Templars and in the tradition of Richard Adams. What is there not to like.

I find it dense and that is a good think but sometimes it is a thick slice of cake to get down.

Loved this series from the moment I began reading. The lives of mice, as we've never thought of them; their challenges, wars, enemies, dreams, religions, families...

Lots of violence, wars, grown up topics. This is NOT for young children.

Highly recommended.

A lot more action and a better job differentiating between characters.
