Weighing in at 84 pages, this attractive 6x9 grimoire of awesome and twisted little tales caught my eye initially not because of the haunting cover art, but because of the quality and power of the author’s prose. Stories like “A Night at the Games” where a girl literally chews herself into bits or “City Life: A Personal Apocalypse in Five Parts” leave you with a strange and macabre sense of awe that few other writers can muster. I thought that this book was an enjoyable tale of shorts that kept me wondering what could the next story be about? Once I picked up this book it was hard for me to put down. It is a nice read for fans of the strange and grim.

Cody's shorter pieces, or flash fiction as he calls them, shock ...more

It’s about a woman who is interviewing the former wife of a rock star who sold his soul to the Devil, presumably for talent and/or supremacy in the biz. “Idle Hands” is a continuation of the rock star character, John Moon, and plays with the reader’s head. Cody could easily expand Moon’s story into a novel and give “Heart-Shaped Box” author Joe Hill a run fo ...more
