• a lot of blatant male gaze stuff here. someone will write abt it someday. probably not. maybe me
• dylan’s obsession w her weight stays making me uncomfortable. i don’t remember if i ever read her book (or if she ever even had one) but i imagine it also continued to toe the line of pro-ana discourse
• massie is especially self-centered in this one. it makes the friendships seem that much more performative— although she and claire are least affected by that. i’m still fixated on adrienne rich’s c

I enjoyed this book. It was very girly, cute and fun! I liked the idea of how the girls go on the trip with the guys!

At the beginning of the book, I was a little confused with the Pretty Committee’s relationship with Claire. They were treating her like a friend but they seemed weird about it. They seemed kind of shaky and like they didn’t open of the door to their clique fully, so to say. Why were they treating her that way? I thought they were cool.

I know that Massie loves her friends; I learne

This was a fun read, honestly! It’s set in Lake Placid, a place I’ve vacationed at a lot, and while my vacations were never as glamorous as it was in the book, it was still fun trying to picture everything.

The drama was fun, too. Not that I’d ever wish to be that age again, but I couldn’t stop smiling, recalling all my petty fights with friends, the nervousness with boys I had crushes on, etc. Massie was especially funny in this book, and though I wish Alicia had been more a part of this story,

Massie Block: The girls of Octavian Day Country pack up their warmest cashmere coats and their tiniest iPods and board the bus for a President's Day class trip to Lake Placid. But bears aren't the only scary thing out in those woods. The Briarwood Boys are staying in a cabin just a few yards away, which meansthe girls in Massie's Underground Clinic for Kissing (M.U.C.K) might have to find the guts to put their money where their well-glossed mouthes are.

This was a fun book with a L-O-T of drama. See my book review from below:

DRAMA! When Octavian Country Day (OCD) school goes on a class trip, each member of the Pretty Committee (PC), the coolest girls at OCD, has a secret or some personal drama. Massie, the PC's head alpha, lied about having kissing experience to hold a kissing clinic to raise money for her friend, Kristen, a member of the PC; no one except the PC knows Kristen's family couldn't afford the school's trip fees. Will the girls of t

After Alicia’s sassy cousin Nina, who stole everyone’s heart, was proven for the devious thief she really was, Massie expected all to adore her once again. Massie can’t have her admirers thinking she hasn’t any experience with boys, so she starts “Massie’s Underground Clinic for Kissing (M.U.C.K.) even though she’s never kissed a boy herself. I like this book because how Dylan,Alicia, and Massie want to pay for the trip but Kristen wouldn't let them. It's time to leave for the trip. And Dylan's mom is coming. This was the time for Dylan to get the guy that she wanted. Massie is teaching girls how to kiss. But some of the girls are going overboard about it. Claire helps Massie with kissing only if Massie helps Claire get Cam back. Massie helps Claire get Cam back. By dressing Claire up in Kristen's soccer clothes. Claire sneaks in the ...more

Kristin is poor now, what a good news...no it's not.

My favorite PC member is Claire. She's smart, sweet, and beautiful. Massie is next, she's clever, definitely, and she COULD be sweet if she WANTS to. But she's mean...Alicia is good, pretty girl, with an evil heart. Dylan, Kristin, I dunno them much.

Massie, you don't HAVE to pretend to be a great lip-kissing master. You are like, what, only 12? It DOESN'T matter? You know what'll really earn you respect from people? Knowledge. Yeah, that's r

This book is awesome! I think it's one of the best "Clique" books written! The main characters in this book are Massie, Claire, Kristen, Dylan, and Alicia. They all go to the same school, and their school is going to go on a camping trip with another school(Massie's school is all girls, the other school is all boys). Once they get there, though, they realize 3 days with boys can have pros and cons. To find out what happens on the trip, you need to read The Pretty Committee Strikes Back by Lisi H ...more

The book, "The Pretty Committe Strikes Back", I found it one of the better books so far out fo The Clique series. I recommend to read from the begining on because otherwise you won't get the story. Massie is basically well she is a main character. She is the popular one and the one that controls everything. Although she can be nice I prefer Claire myself.

Essentially, the girls and the guys get sent on a 3-day class trip into the middle of the wilderness, with no parents and very little supervision. Then the romance heats up (in the 7th-grader way).

I LOVED IT!!! Such a cute lil read about first crushes, new romance, and popularity :)

What I learned from this book is to always follow your heart. Sometimes your friends. And always your teachers, so you don't get in trouble.

This book was pretty good, though it included a whole lot of drama and plot twists. The main character Massie Block, seems really spoiled and selfish, and she's not a very good friend either. She states in different times in the book ways to "get back" at a friend. As stated in the book, "All she had to do was leak to Alisha Claire's secret and Claire would be back to Loser Beyond Repair, Alisha would make sure of it." This shows how false Massie's friendships are, and the girls enjoy few moment ...more

In the Pretty Committee Strikes Back, there are two characters, Massie and Claire. Massie, leader of the Pretty Committee, cares about what name brand you are wearing and how skinny you are. Claire, on the other hand, cares about your personality and puts all the physical characteristics aside. Throughout the book, the two help each other sneak around to get what they want, even though it’s against the rules. Massie is helping Claire find when and where to get her first kiss with Cam, Claire’s b ...more

This book was pleasurable, but it was a whole lot of drama, suspense, and conflict. It was obviously a series, as the book tied up loose end from the previous one. One of the main characters, Massie Block, seems rather spoiled and selfish. She gets everything she could ever want, as her parents are very wealthy, and she devotes most of her life to being popular, clothes, boys, and beauty. Her little group of friends all look up to her, and she leads a Clique, which is very exclusive. In other wo ...more

In the book "The Pretty Committee Strikes Back" by Lisi Harrison, the girls tough it out at camp in the woods. Massie runs into a bit of a problem when the MUCK girls begin to speculate her kissing abilities. Derrington is not making any moves, so Massie has to fast-track operation "Kiss Derrington." Meanwhile Claire is trying to win back Cam after she kissed Josh at the soccer game. Wait, where is Kristen? Look under your bunk, and maybe you'll see her. These girls are in for quite a ride!

I have been reading “The Pretty Committee Strikes Back”. The book was not bad but it wasn’t great. There wasn’t enough action and I like books that entertain me. There was some parts that were funny but most of the book is very serious and drama filled. Some of the parts that i didn’t like was when Kristen cut her hair. I think everyone made it a bigger deal than it was supposed to be. Yes it made her look different but not like a whole man. Everyone made Kristen feel like an outcast just becaus ...more

I've read all of The Clique books, some multiple times, and I like them all, but this one is without a doubt my favorite, so this will be the only one I review. This book was pretty much flawless. There was nothing I'd change about it. It had funny lines and moments, the characters were lovable, and the plot was interesting and at times relatable even. This was a light and fun read and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Just as action-packed, but even dumber than the previous book in the series. The girls are dumb, have no redeeming qualities, and do everything that a normal smart person wouldn't do. These books are trivially interesting but this particular one was just too dumb to enjoy. Only one more to get off my bookshelf and then these are all going back in the Goodwill bag.

I am SO happy that I finally finished this book! Even though I got through this book more quickly than than the last book I read, but I am sad that I did not get through to the other two books that I had planned to read during this month. Though I have time to start my TBR list for next month!
