I wouldn’t say this was a biography by any means. And by saying in her “ own words” is also deceiving because they could be taken in any context or out of context. She was more complex than people give her credit for.

This was the book I chose, fresh out of publication, to be the first English book I would read. I took me many long months, but in the end I could say: Monroe taught me English when I was 14.
