When one of my Albanian friends, Mrs. Martin, told me that her husband really enjoyed the book called,
“A Man After God’s Own Heart, Jim George”, I didn’t hesitate to order it.
When I received the book it was called,
A Young Man After God’s Own Heart, from the same author.
Probably it was a mistake but I become very mad. However, I read this book and now I know that God did it on purpose. I love each word is written there.
A main example from the Bible as a man after God’s own heart was Job. I also was currently reading from Job while I was reading this book. I love the book of Job; he really was a man after God’s own heart.
So, this book is about what it’s going to take for the reader to be a man after God’s own heart, to be God’s man today…which will give us great momentum for being God’s man tomorrow.
Being a man after God’s own heart we should become a servant, shouldn’t we?
To become a servant…
1. Live with a servant’s attitude, which means that you….
2. Live to promote others,
3. Live to praise others,
4. Live to encourage others,
5. Live to ask, not tell, and
6. Live to give, not take.
I love the sixth! I am very thankful to God for giving to me a heart of giving.
A man after God’s own heart need to develop skills at communicating with God. That’s not only because prayer changes things, but because prayer also changes us and our hearts.

P.S: Learning is a way of life for a man after God’s own heart.
Now I am ready to read A MAN After God’s Own Heart

MY REVIEW:

Just as it's counterpart - A Young Woman After God's Own Heart is encouraging for teen girls - so this book is to teen guys. In this book Jim George has given us a teen companion to his original: A Man After God's Own Heart. This book is easy to read for any age teen guy and very practical to their every day life.

I appreciate this book due to it's Biblical truth and accuracy while being extremely relevant to a young guy's life. It shoots straight while focusing on the heart issues he deals with every day. While intended more for a believing teen, it would be could for those seeking to understand the Christian faith as well. This is a great book to use individually for 12 to 16-year-old guys, in one-on-one discipleship settings, or as a group Bible study. It would also make a great study for Father and Son to work through together using the adult version, too!

BOOK OVERVIEW:

Jim George, author of A Man After God’s Own Heart (more than 74,000 copies sold), takes older teenagers on a radical journey of faith. Through God’s extreme wisdom and powerful insights from the life of warrior and leader King David, readers will—

* get on track with right priorities
* discover God’s amazing will
* live God through their actions
* gear up for serving the Lord
* build meaningful friendships

Young men will discover biblical principles that blaze a trail to godly living. A Young Man After God’s Own Heart helps guys grow into men who honor God in all they do. Great for Sunday school, youth group studies, and individual reading.

I bought this for my son Jack last year. Once I looked at it a little more I realized it is geared more towards teens/tweens and Jack was only 9 at the time. So we decided to make it a read aloud in our homeschool and read a chapter every month or so. We finished it Friday. It was excellent. Highly recommend it but again - maybe for 12 and up aged boys. Nothing inappropriate it but it is preparing them for things that a 9-10 year old hasn’t encountered yet. I’ll likely have Jack go through it on his own in a few years alone as a devotional since each chapter had questions and blanks for processing deeper.

I am giving this book a 5 star rating because this was the first book I’ve read all the way through. It was a gift to me from my mother in my late teenage years. I’ll always cherish this book, love you mama!

I've enjoyed reading this with our Wednesday night Youth Boys Class. Solid counsel for young men to grow in godliness. Very basic and foundational but not fluffy at all. Recommended.
