About the author

Richard Hammond is a British TV presenter, most noted for co-hosting car programme Top Gear alongside Jeremy Clarkson and James May, as well as presenting Brainiac: Science Abuse on Sky1, Should I Worry About...? on BBC One and Total Wipeout, also on BBC One and Richard Hammonds Blast Lab on CBBC. He has also presented several one-off specials such as ITV's The Gunpowder Plot: Exploding The Legend and the annual Crufts awards.

In 2006, Hammond suffered a life-threatening crash at speeds of over 280mph in a jet engine powered dragster racing car. He recovered months later and continued his presenting work.

What a super book - another in the series of factual books for young learners from Dorling Kindersley. It covers the physics of everyday things, including the push or pull of force taught in classrooms from Year 1 onwards, and it is applicable and accessible to all ages, arguably up to GCSE. Worth noting the clear and memorable introduction to influential scientists. As you might expect from author, Richard Hammond, it is fun and interactive, while being true to science. Definitely a book to be enjoyed together at home by families who enjoy science, and those that are keen to develop an interest. Also useful to teachers as part of an oral starter to one of the physics subjects covered, and worth having a copy in the school library.

I read this book and I give it 4 stars because you learn a lot from it and it has a lot of humor like a picture a very good and old painting with some apples falling on him.

A very thorough book that acts as a sort of Physics 101 for middle-grade readers. Eye-catching graphs and charts, suggested experiments, and weird factoids make for a very enjoyable read...and yes, I did learn some new things!
