Ok, so I am not an avid reader of Westerns; however, usually on the rare case when I have picked one up, I've enjoyed it. Especially Westerns from Max Brand have usually ticked my fancy. However, this short novel about a sneaky and thieving young farmhand was quite dissapointing. More talk about doing the work was explained than actual action. To me, if I feel like I'm working then I am probably not going to enjoy the book. PASS!!!!

Max Brand writes a good western. I love the characters in this book. The formula is different. No boy gets girl in this one. The Kid is a fantastic character and the view is from a saddle tramp. It takes place in Nevada and I never knew it was much more than wasteland.
