The Party is not "democratic," and proper nouns like "Democrat" are not converted into adjectives by adding "ic" as a suffix. For example, it is not the "Republicanic Party," or the "Libertarianic Party," Were glad you came to the light, David, but shouldn't proper grammar be applied in this situation?

Barack Hussein Obama, an unknowable pliant stalking horse of a candidate, is being funded by this man and is the beneficiery of a Soros bought and paid for national media. (As Andy Rooney says "Jever wonder" how the talking points and words are IDENTICAL across all the networks and large newspaper chains?

This is "in it's way" an excellent book. There will be those who will, disagree with some of the conclusions drawn and the case that is made, only to be expected. But I'd say it's a book worth reading and considering. The book goes back a few years and things have grown in the direction looked for in the volume more than changed. it predates the present president so some of the players have shifted in importance a bit, but the "main" player the book is concerned about is still very much on the w ...more

I've been fascinated by David Horowitz because he WAS a sixties radical. He's well-read and articulate, and I actually planned to read his autobiography first, "Radical Son." But the name of this one caught my eye, and I'm glad I read it. It's an eye-opening book about the under currents of radicalism that are at work in the Democratic party. The part I don't like is the tone which is echoed in the Goodreads review, "America is under attack. Its institutions and values are under daily assault. But the principal culprits are not foreign terrorists. They are influential and powerful Americans secretly stirring up disunion and disloyalty in the shifting shadows of the Democratic Party." Sounds like a sinister conspiracy theory. Maybe the authors do that to catch readers' interest and capitalize on fear, but it makes it easy to dismiss using Alinsky's Rules for Radicals.

I do think the book is worth reading as it holds information regarding the shift of the Democratic Party, strategies of powerful Democrats, and the influence of money as it relates to Democratic Party issues. It is unfortunate that the masses of people are willing to vote for the candidate that will promise them the most. The candidates are backed financially by powerful groups that they are beholden to--favors are returned with legislation and public (tax payer) money.

My own thoughts:
We need term limits to lessen the influence of special interests, but the Senators and Representatives will never pass that. We need to keep money and power away from the federal government and return it to the states and localities. We are going in the wrong direction. I hope people will read about the issues contained in this book and will fight for these things.

There's always more than just one person that makes one's decisions in politics. I understood quite well what Horowitz was expressing about the Democrats, I'm not affiliated with either party, so it was easy for me too read this with an unbiased view. My point with that statement was to say it was well written. Aside from that, I personally believe we can get dirt on anyone or any aspect in politics, because everyone has their own view on how things ought to be done in America, or anywhere in th There's always more than just one person that makes one's decisions in politics. My point with that statement was to say it was well written. Aside from that, I personally believe we can get dirt on anyone or any aspect in politics, because everyone has their own view on how things ought to be done in America, or anywhere in the world for that matter. So no one person has an omnipotent view over anything involved in the lives of those in power. I understand that this is supposed to be a historic work, but even his sources had biases towards the Democrats. I'm not saying he's right or wrong, just that we can't take any writing such as this and see it as the full truth, or definite answer as to what happened in those times, because it is only the interpretation of, in this case, two authors and their sources. On that note, Soros was an interesting character, and I feel that his followers ought not to trust him, as he is similar to Howard Hughes. Hughes gained power quite quickly, then he went no where with it, and Soros seems to have done the same. "The Shadow Agenda", though I believe it exists, Horowitz seemed unable to say anything about its future. So we can worry about this of course, take it into account when we vote, but lets not all go into complete paranoia over it. We still have to live our lives and do our jobs. This is not to criticize Horowitz, he's an exceptional author. My point is that as long as we have good, hard working, and productive Americans, I think we can take what comes, whenever and whatever it is that may. I've preached this before, and I will continue to do so as a non affiliate, (though my views are leaned into Republican more than anything else, just to be honest about that statement), we need to stop seeing each other as Reds and Blues, and start thinking that we are Americans. Unity is what holds and has held this nation together for the past three hundred or so years, and that's what will continue to do so. ...more

Horowitz lays out with stunning accuracy the formation, intent, and plans of the shadow party ibid.

The coup explained is how the outside influencers orchestrated phony campaign finance reform to force the Democrats into their non identified, but politically aligned system under their command to control the party. The methodology exposed foretells the globalist infiltration happening still a decade later.

Reinforced what I already knew of the Democratic Party. It has changed over the years and no longer are the "blue dog democrats" in office. It is represented by radicals that want to change the constitution and are not looking to support ALL of the people. Only the "group of the day". I found the book interesting, but slow to read at times. Gave it a 4 because this is a presidential election year and think it is a good read to be informed on the other side of politics.

This book should be required reading for anyone, especially college students, concerned about the fate of our country. Our freedom may depend upon it. This is no conspiracy theory. George Soros and the far left liberals, communists and socialists are working to destroy America. Today's Democratic Party is not the Democratic Party of our parents. My father, a life long Democrat, would not recognize today's Democratic Party.

Everyone who cares at all about the the financing of political machines by those bent on controlling the pace of the move toward a global redistribution of wealth should read this book. It was published before the 2008 US elections, and the groups who have been exposed as major influences since then are included. David Horowitz and Richard Poe did a masterful job.

Man, did HE nail it. This was written before the rise of Barack Obama, but you now see so much of what Horowitz predicted has come true. It was meant as a warning of things to come. Now it reads like a history book.

This book was loaned to me with a strong recommendation to read it. I happen to have read other books and articles by David Horowitz but have never been exposed to the co-author, Richard Poe. I did not purchase this book but will have to have it in my library. The book was originally published in 2006, before the Obama administration and before I ever really heard or understood anything about George Soros. I did know that he was a Jew whose family denounced its Judaism to escape the Holocaust. Soros, it turned out is a very intelligent man who has made billions of dollars and one of the world top thirty billionaires. He has learned the art of making money and was able to show that he could cause the devaluation of the English pound and made a small fortune as a consequence. It seems he never got involved in a project unless it netted him a profit. I raise this as a highlight of the book because the Soros name has been indelibly associated with the Obama name and fame.

The reading of this book albeit post Obama has shed light on how and why the Obama administration pushed its policy toward appeasement and the heretofore leaning toward world government or as it is commonly referred to today “globalization”. As this book lays out this concept it is exactly what George Soros hopes to achieve in his support of so many “leftist” organizations that are formed to manipulate voters and elections. It is important to understand that Hillary Clinton is a big fan of Soros, who by the way, also a big fan of famous leftists who wanted to steer America and any other western democracy toward increased government control of the populations therein.

This seemingly Herculean task is a long process requiring great patience. And the investments of millions of dollars which this book outlines in great details toward these created groups. The most notorious of these groups. :Move On” probably more familiar as “Move On .com” which the public has associated with Michael Moore and his often repugnant political commentaries.

The overlaying political philosophy that George Soros promotes is the idea of an “Open Society” which is a confusing approach to government and the control of the populace. It was developed after World War II by a British philosopher who wanted a way to control people through the operations of government via a democratic vehicle. This is almost, if not, completely objectionable to the whole philosophy of Democracy and freedom. This a subterfuge for control of a society and even though it would seem antithetical to Soros love of making money, this points out that Soros will involve himself in seemingly contradictory movements but in every case, he makes money out of his ventures. A clear case of wealth being used against the populations for personal greed.

The Shadow Party is a book every American should read to fend off chameleon type take overs of our society. After all, it is being applied by leftists right now via the “Shadow” government in this post Obama political arena and supported by a partisan media.

This book is well documented, footnoted and very well written , an easy and captivating read.

Very interesting look into the money behind the Democraric party. George Soros is one of the main characters featured and when I randomly checked some of the citations for the most egregious accusations, they all checked out. The Koch brothers' every move is tracked by the media and the big question after reading this is why is there not a similar level of scrutiny placed on the likes of Soros. Also I can't believe that David Horowitz is Ben Horowitz' dad.

The book cites many examples of illegal coordination between political campaigns and independent political committees. Hillary Clinton and her partner George Soros remain secretive about many details of their collaboration. A political partnership between them would be forbidden by the campaign finance laws of the McCain-Feingold Act. According to data on file with the Capital Research Center, the Foundation Center, and the Internal Revenue Service, Soros' Institute contributed nearly $19 million to the ACLU during the seven-year period spanning 1998 to 2004 (about $2.7 million/year). ACLU is notorious radical organization in defending the rights of Islamic terrorists, radical Islamic organizations in United States and many liberal institutions. Recently, the New York City jury acquitted alleged Al Qaeda accomplice Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani of all major terrorism charges in the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in the first trial of a former Guantanamo Bay prisoner in the civilian court. A war criminal that never set foot in United Sates was tried under U.S. criminal law. The Soros-linked Constitution Project already declared, "The system worked here." Did it? In all likelihood, the convicted terrorist may be released after 20 years. Canadian Conservative commentator Kathy Shaidle is threatened with a lawsuit by Soros' Canadian counsel for referencing and excerpting from an article in the Toronto Sun which claimed that George Soros, as a teenager in his native land of Hungary, "collaborated with the Nazis," she revised her post later but a left-wing organization supported by the George Soros- funded MoveOn.org, is taking frontline to suppress free speech. Tony Blankley, editor of The Washington Times and former aide to former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich once said of Soros: "He was a Jew who figured out a way to survive the Holocaust."

George Soros blames Israeli policies for the resurgence of anti-Semitism in Europe; his Open Society Institute (OSI) has published its Muslims in Europe report series that depicts Muslims living in Europe as victims of racism, discrimination, stereotypes, prejudice etc. Consistent with Soros' dislike for national sovereignty, the OSI report recommends changing the definitions of nationality to accommodate Islamic immigrants and extending voting rights to non-citizens. Even Glenn Beck has commented on the heavy handedness of George Soros. This self-hating Jew is using his wealth and influence to try and change the world to fit his lunatic fantasies.

Much of the work published in this book also appeared in May 2004 article in NewsMax Magazine, "George Soros' Coup" and later a lengthy three-part series published in October 2004 on FrontPageMag.com, under the title "The Shadow Party." My dad asked me to read this book because I didn't seem to agree with him that Obama was a "wolf in sheep's clothing". The book seems rife with conspiracy theory; it talks about some "shadow party" that is controlling the liberal establishment through what they depict as the liberal extremist George Soros. This book is somewhat dated. Describes the relationship between Hilary Clinton and George Soros, and the plans together of these progressives to take control of the Democratic Party. The material is anecdotal for many conservatives and would be enlightening to old school Democrats regarding who actually controls the Democratic Party and the underlying values they espouse; values most rank and file Democrats would not adopt outside pure partisanship.

I was hoping for a well-executed, well-researched, balanced and pragmatic look at the facts and ideas. What I got was poorly-written, baseless propaganda. I have no particular love or favor for Hillary Clinton or George Soros, but even the way this is presented is sophomoric.

"Any journalist who has studied Soros with sufficient attentiveness has learned to greet his public utterances with an ounce of skepticism."

This book explains and puts in context many recent national and international events and the ultimate goals of those who are directing them. The scale of this "organization" is daunting, and Horowitz and Poe have served a valuable purpose in pulling back the curtain: exposing these people is probably the only way to stop them. A valuable but not very happy read.

One can only conclude that Geo. Soros is an evil man. He has ruined what good was in the Democratic party and the unions. Soros had AFL-CIO Pres. Kirkland ousted after Kirkland assisted Walesa in bringing down the communist oppression of the Polish shipyard workers. Book outlines Harold Ickes mob & Hillary connections.
